A/N: This was written for one of my request meme on LiveJournal. The idea was to pick a pairing and song lyrics and, in turn, I would write a small ficlet fir Valentine's day. One, I'm quite happy with so I'm sharing here. Please note, the time zone descriptions are probably inaccurate and I used a fairly recent world reference as inspiration.

Seasons May Change
By: Nuit Songeur
I don't know where you are so
why do I care
I know we're both even
so whys it feel unfair?
some say that four seasons
are enough for a lifetime of change
I hope when you think of me
you remember the love that I gave
(when our seasons change)
Anzu had only been to Egypt once, and then she didn't find it particularly appealing. All the same, she often found herself dreaming of the hot, dry sand and the blistering air as she longed to return. It was a fact of life that stunned her; she didn't care to see the pyramids or the shoddy, overcrowded market places.
It was Malik, though, that attracted her to such a place.
It was a silly notion, really. It'd been years since she'd last seen him. He could have been somewhere else, for all she knew. Moved on to new places, new people.
Though, the brief time she'd met him never seemed enough. It wasn't, in reality, enough time for her to like him. She'd barely ever had a true conversation alone with him. But these thoughts, these feelings, these attractions were silly.
Yet, no matter how silly they were, Anzu found herself frantically tracking down the Ishtar family after the recent rebellions in Egypt.
I want to make sure they're okay, she justified with herself. Though, the desperation with which she was doing her search seemed hardly than mere concern for a friend.
She soon learned that Isis was now curator of a museum in Paris and that her brothers were living with her in France. Anzu would have been relieved except for the fact that France was still a long way from Domino.
Soon thereafter, she received a phone call around two in morning from an oddly familiar voice.
"Hullo?" came her exhausted groan, slightly irritated for the late hour when her eyes focused on the 1:57 of her alarm clock.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot about the time zone change," apologized Malik's distinctive voice. Anzu blinked and did her best of focusing on his words.
"It's okay, I just have a class early tomorrow morning," she slurred sarcastically. The haze of sleep almost made her miss his light chuckle.
"Then I'll make this quick. I heard you were looking for me." Anzu froze, suddenly alert. She did not intend for Malik to learn of her desperate attempts of locating him.
"Umm, yeah," she said, trying to scrounge around for her practiced excuse. "I was worried for you and your family after the recent revolutions in Egypt." Of course, Anzu knew that she had been more concerned for his safety, but there was no way she was admitting that to him.
"Well, that was very nice of you," he said, thoughtfully. "Thank you for your concern."
"No problem," Anzu said, flushing and thankful that he could not see. A long pause followed as she waited for him to respond. Anzu did all that she could to not nod off back to sleep.
"So," I was thinking," he finally said when her alarm clock changed to 2:02, "of going back to Domino and visiting everyone." Anzu blinked.
"That would be great!" she said, trying to sound excited through her grogginess. He chuckled again.
"Good, because my plane leaves tomorrow."
Happy late Valentine's day! I hope you enjoyed! Please review!
