"You have to be a bitch at times. Put a little bitch in the nice, put a little nice in the bitch"

Van pelt can remember Jane's words clearly, as if he had said them yesterday. She remember just shaking her head at him, with a promise of saying that she would work on that. At that time, she didn't take him seriously. At least, not the advice. The man, himself, was a genius that she would bet her life on.

That advice has given her some major bounds and leaps though. She progressed from a rookie to being someone that the whole team relied on. Developing into something desired, and something someone fell in love with. But, at that same time, she has not been able to place that advice on Jane.

Jane has never taken her seriously really. Maybe he gave her a pat on the back once in a while, like the team's mascot or dog. But, it's time to get face to face with Jane and give him a piece of his own medicine. It's time to confront.

She stalks down the halls with long strides, not making eye contact with any of her team members. She finally stops in front of the couch Jane loves to sleep on. He cracks open an eye. "well, hello there dear Van Pelt, what can I do for you?" She glares at him, refusing to be charmed. Jane raises an eyebrow at her expression, and springs to his feet. "Would you like some tea? I would love some."

Van pelt can only follow as Jane strides towards the kitchen in the building. By the time she catches up to him, you could hear the whistling of the tea pot. Van Pelt reaches a very calm, collected Jane sipping on tea sitting at the table. She sits across from him, when he slides her a cup.

"Now, what can I do for you?" Jane asks, still smiling.

"remember when you told me to start adding bitchiness to niceness?" Jane, who was looking down at his cup, looks up quickly. He furrows his eyebrows, and then nods slowly.

"It's around the time you got hired on, if I remember right." Van Pelt nodds.

"I decided to take that advice." Jane chuckles at that.

" You took that advice along time ago. Anyone could see that, with how tough you had suddenly became."

"I decided to take that advice when it came to you." This made Jane's smile disappear. His expression was neutral now as he stirred his tea thoughtfully.

"So, you have a bone to pick with me then." Jane states.

"Jane, we have been working together for years. I can go as far as say that we have been friends for years. And yet you still don't take me seriously. Tell me, what makes you think of me as weak?"

Jane looks into her eyes, searching. There was a silence for a moment before he finally spoke.

"It's not that I do not take you seriously. You are just very pure still. Even though you have seen so much, and has been through a lot more than most, you are still pure at heart. You believe in fairy tale endings, and you believe in true love. You believe that people are good at heart. It's just that I really don't know how to take you. I have never run into someone like that, in all of my life. I want you to know that I have the utmost respect for you, and that I would trust you with my life. But, I would also lay down my life for you, because you are a one of a kind."

Jane grabs Van Pelt's hand, and strokes it before getting up and leaving a half a cup of tea. Van Pelt stares at the cup, wishing that the answer to the mystery of Patrick Jane would be in it.
