This was a fic related to a longer story that may or may not actually be written. It IS yaoi (I haven't gone THAT far astray) but in a sorta not really way. Yeah.
Alanna grew up with two fathers: Father, the calm, black haired Chinese man with an appetite for sweet things that surpassed even that of a six-year-old's, and Dad, a loud, grumpy American who had (if the pets' tales were to be believed) chased Father around the world for four years instead of giving up and letting him go. She loved and respected them greatly, and it had hurt her deeply to leave. She knew she wouldn't trade her family for all the money in the world.
Sometimes, however, she got the urge to cuss out her inherited DNA with every word her dad had taught her.
One such time was when she would wake up in the morning after a long night of drinking, and search desperately for aspirin and instead find box after box of herbal teas, bought because when she was sober and not hung over, she could remember which kind could cure headaches and which kind blasted your brain through your ears with a mix of peppermint and caffeine.
And being able to see animals as people should never be mixed with absentmindedness. At least everyone thought she was joking when she suggested they use the dog as a witness in the murder case.
However, there were times- like when she put down a royal flush on the table and gathered up her winnings from the poker table, while her fellow officers swore and scowled- that she felt she was truly blessed to be a copy of her parents.
I feel like such an idiot now. How dare I write with Original Characters!??!!
Please don't hate me. ;.;
Am I the only one who ever thought that D has the ultimate poker face?
