Roxanne rubbed her aching eyes as she rode the elevator downwards. It had been a long day, after a long night of monotonous work. Her only comfort was that it was the weekend. She looked forward to crashing once she got to her apartment.
She was therefore surprised, when she exited the building and saw the clearly visible invisible car sitting in the no-parking zone, and her boyfriend—who also happened to be the city's protector—standing beside it, a sheepish look on his face.
Roxanne shook her head, unable to hold back a smile.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, going up to him and giving him a hug.
"I was…uh…I cam here to pick you up." He shuffled his feet nervously, but grew more confidant when she gave him a bright smile. Megamind opened the car door for and, and Roxanne stepped into the passenger's seat. He shut her door, before hurrying around and getting into the driver's seat. He started the engine and quickly pulled our of the parking lot and onto the road.
Before he did, however, Roxanne couldn't help but notice as Megamind pressed a button on the dashboard. The car instantly shimmered and became invisible.
Finally, she turned in her chair to face the man sitting next to her with a questioning stare. After a moment, he finally answered, "I saw you on the news today, and noticed how tired you looked. And I thought…you looked like you needed a vacation."
Roxanne glanced into the back and noticed the suitcases piled in the seats.
"What about your city?" she asked teasingly. "Can it manage without you?"
"Minion's perfectly capable of handling everything," Megamind said. "And no one will really know, 'cause we'll only be gone for the weekend. That's the reason for the secrecy."
Roxanne cocked an eyebrow.
"So…does that mean you're actually kidnapping me?"
Megamind's eyes grew wide, though they didn't leave the road.
"I…I didn't think of it that way…"
He trailed off. Again, Roxanne had a hard time concealing her grin of amusement. It broke through, and she had to turn her head in order to not embarrass Megamind. He was still so awkward about everything between the two of them. Roxanne was happy though. He was so cute.
"So where are we going?" she asked to break the silence.
Megamind sighed with relief.
"The beach. Away from everybody."
Roxanne sighed with content.
"I haven't been to the beach in years."
That triggered the awkwardness again.
"I-if you don't want to we don't have to…I just thought you might like—"
Roxanne silenced him by leaning close and kissing him on the cheek.
"I want to go. It'll be nice to get away."
Megamind's cheeks flushed bright pink, and smiled with delight.
