Just a small NaLu drabble. I've been sick lately, so to keep me somewhat occupied I decided to write a little. I hope you enjoy! :)

Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail.

The dust clears, and there he is. Her heartbeat pounds louder, and louder. It is unstoppable; a never ending crescendo that reverberates off of her chest and into her awaiting ears. Tears swell in her brown eyes. He's visibly hurt, that much is obvious, but to see him physically walking is almost too much for her to bear.

Lucy stumbles forward, some unknown force pushing her towards him, not even knowing what she plans to do. But eventually her stumble turns into a walk, then a jog, then an all out sprint to reach him as fast as her legs would allow.

The distance takes a toll on her own wounds, opening some up and bringing new ones to the surface, but she doesn't care, he's so close she can practically feel it. Her heartbeat pounds with each step on the pavement, and her lungs fill with the dust from the collapsed guild, but she strives forward.

He instantly sees her coming. The second he steps out of that guild, the first thing he wants to see is Lucy. He wasn't truly thinking when he rushed into the burning building to be honest, but he wanted to make sure everyone was safe, and fire doesn't bother him after all (however, falling debris does). He just wanted to save her, and once she was saved he couldn't just stop. He was Natsu Dragoneel, he never quit while he was ahead.

As he steps away, the dust clearing and Lucy running for him, he opens his arms wide on pure instinct and she eagerly jumps into them. He catches her, holding her steady with his arm around her waist and other softly cradling her neck. He faintly realizes she's sobbing, but then again he's about ready to cry too.

"I'm sorry," he murmurs into the crown of her head apologetically.

Lucy smiles through her tears, "It's okay," she lifts her head up in order to look at him, "I knew you'd be there."

Natsu grins at her and lays a kiss on her forehead. Sometimes it astounds him how much faith she has put in him. But then again, he has just as much faith in her.
