My Papouli

by Michelle Tanner

"Opah!" the cry of celebration. Flour thrown throughout. It was a wonderful time. It was also the last time. The last time I'd heard my Papouli shout the word of celebration. No longer could he teach me to dance. No longer could he tell me of my culture or teach me of something I hadn't known. I can still remember the moment. The saddest of my life. I'd built him a house of sticks. Everyone stared with a sad look on their face. Not one wasn't filled with tears. I was clueless as to what had occurred. When I'd then understood the truth I to had been filled with tears. But this experience has taught me something. All life is precious and you should always live life to the fullest. Having as much fun as possible. Never looking down on the bad. That's how my Papouli lived and that is how I will always remember him.
