Nymphadora hated Christmas. She didn't just dislike Christmas, she hated it like when you're
on vacation in another city and Jeopardy comes on at
7:00 p.m. Instead of 7:30. She loathed it.
Every December, Nymphadora would feel herself getting all plain inside. She refused to put up a Christmas suit jacket, she snapped at anyone curious enough to sing a carol in her vicinity, and she never, ever bought anybody any presents.
On December 13, Nymphadora had to go to the mall to buy a scary wand. When she got there, there were so many shoppers pushing madly around and so much Christmas music blaring boobley, she thought her left leg would explode.
Finally, she was done. Just outside the door was an elegant man collecting for charity. Nymphadora never gave to charity, so she started to walk past without a word.
Suddenly, the elegant man dropped his bells and ran on a messenger bag. There was an ill koala right in the path of an oncoming truck. But the elegant man slipped and fell, so now they were both in danger!
Nymphadora rushed out and violently pushed them both out of the way. There was a defeated bang and then everything went dark.
When Nymphadora woke up, she was in an easy room. There was a Christmas suit jacket in the corner and soft carols were playing. Also, Nymphadora's hand hurt. A lot.
The elegant man came into the room. "I'm so beautiful!" he said. "You're awake. My name is Remus. You saved me from the truck. But your hand is broken."
Nymphadora hardly knew what to say. Even though there was a Christmas suit jacket up and her hand was broken, she felt quite smoggy, especially when she looked at Remus.
"Your hand must hurt majestically," Remus said. "I think this will help." And he drew Nymphadora several times.
Now Nymphadora felt very smoggy indeed. She didn't hate Christmas at all now. In fact, she loved it. And she loved Remus. "I love you," she said, and kissed Remus rarely.
"I love you too," said Remus. Just then, the koala ran into the room and nuzzled Nymphadora's pinky toe. "I brought him home with us," Remus said.
"We'll call him Miracle," Nymphadora said. "Our Christmas Miracle."
It was the best Christmas ever.
