She was never truly there after he left.
Olette remembered the day Roxas (the boy with the sky in his eyes and the sun in his hair) left.
They were all sitting on their ledge on the Clock Tower, watching the sunset and happily indulging on sea salt ice cream. His favorite.
He'd looked rather sad and wasn't very talkative, either.
He just stood up and left, with a last look over his shoulder at her. She'd seen a vague sense of emptiness in those (sky blue) eyes, as if something were missing.
Two days later (as the previous day had been spent crying) she brought the subject back up.
"Why do you think…" – she swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry – "…Roxas…left?"
Her words were returned with the confused, blank looks of Hayner and Pence.
"Who's 'Roxas'?" Hayner asked.
Olette frowned noticeably. How could they not remember Roxas? He was their friend, their buddy for life. Forever. They made a pact, a promise (that they'd be together forever no matter what.)
"Hey, Olette? Are you okay?" Pence's worried tone cut through her thoughts. "You spaced out for a minute…"
She jerked back to attention (rather reluctantly) and put on a false smile.
"Oh...yeah, I'm fine." (In reality she just wanted to cry and sob and weep for the boy who held her heart; even if he didn't exist and was nothing but a memory.)
"Okay." (If only they knew.)
She wore a mask over her feelings from then on, not wanting to worry her friends.
Optimistic-cheerful-(fake)-Olette remained in the group; her sad, emerald eyes the only hint of her true (broken) emotional state.
But she was never fully there with Hayner and Pence.
She would always remember him…
