In response to an influx of guest reviewers, or perhaps one troll, who are too cowardly to use accounts so that I may personally respond to them, I am forced to make this epilogue in hopes that said guest reviewers will kindly go annoy someone else. If this prologue does not succeed in doing so, then, well, I have the perfect place where these troll's lips may go.

I am perfectly aware of Dante and Nero's cannon relationship being that they are uncle/nephew. I do not deny this and I never have. There is a REASON why this story is an AU, meaning, alternate universe. I started this story three YEARS ago and FIVE months before their relationship was confirmed. For God's sake I bought the DMC Graphic Arts book that confirmed this when it first came out! Mind you that DMC 4 also came out in 2008 too. That means there were seven years where we did not know where Nero came from. Does this mean you anonymous reviewers also have issues with Dante/Vergil? Or what about Dante/Trish, since she was made in his mother's image? How about Dante/Patty, since he took her in when she was young enough that they were almost like brother and sister? No? It's just those who are blood related? Then you won't have an issue with this story, because Nero is not related to him here. If putting up this prologue on top of having this disclaimer in the story description is not enough for you to understand that, no, this story is not cannon and Nero has different origins, then I'm afraid you are beyond hope of learning and will forever stay in your hateful lifestyle until such a time occurs that you get a life. I do not judge other stories that ship different people, even if it is not my cup of tea, I judge them by how well they write. All I request is for the same respect.

For those who are capable of reading the story description and know they are not related here, I very much appreciate you! I hope that you enjoy this story as it is really beyond just Dante and Nero's relationship, which is perhaps why I am a tad bit annoyed that some apparently believe that this story must be discontinued purely because new facts came out after the story was first published. I write to make myself a better writer. If you would like to mentally replace the names of Dante and Nero with other names, that is perfectly well with me, though I wrote to try and match their cannon personalities as much as possible. Dante and Nero are simply the characters I started out with at the time and are still indeed my favorite characters along with Lady. But, if you are here just for the Dante/Nero, there's no shame in that either! Especially if you're like me and have been here since Nero was first created. They are fictional characters, nobody is getting hurt by these stories that do ship them and you're certainly not hurting anybody by shipping them.

P.S., if you're here for the Dante/Nero and would like to skip ahead to the first major beginning of this, skip to chapter 17. You will be missing some major details, including Nero's origins here, as well as numerous subtle relationship-building hints, but I completely understand if you would like to skip ahead then maybe backtrack later, if the story interests you.

Original Prologue that was attached to the first chapter:

An AU Devil May Cry fanfic. I only call it an AU because Nero and Dante are not related in this storyline. Also, Dante is younger here (I think? I've seen many different claims about his age in DMC4...). This storyline picks up where DMC4 left off.

NeroxKyrie, eventual DantexNero. Nothing sexually explicit, if you're looking for lemons this is not the story for you! I tried to avoid using OC's for this story because I personally don't usually like OC's, but I found it very difficult to write a good plot solely with Dante, Nero, Lady, and Trish that hasn't already been done by other authors. I'm also trying a new writing technique, in that any OC's in this story will not have any physical traits defined. Whenever I read a story, I unconsciously ignore the author's description of a character unless certain traits are important and frequently mentioned. I prefer to conjure up my own image of what the character looks like and so I decided I wouldn't limit my readers to a list of unimportant traits I came up with on my characters. You want them to have short, curly blonde hair? Sure. Or maybe they'll have freckles and a big nose? Whatever your heart desires. I may mention some traits here and there, but unless it is stressed that that particular trait is important, I wouldn't stress over remembering it by heart. Enjoy!

I don't own Devil May Cry or it's characters.
