What is life?

'What is life? A collection of events that shape what we are.' Leafpool contemplates life as a warrior after Crowfeather. How will her clan accept her now? Told from Leafpool's POV.

It seems odd, lying here surrounded by sleeping warriors. I just can't seem to adjust to it, hunting and fighting like the others.

I wonder what Crowfeather is doing now?

At least he was a warrior before us, he can go and slip back into his old life, things are going to change much for him. I was a medicine cat, I had talent and I was the good sister. Squirrelflight was the naughty one, always in trouble with Firestar or another of the senior warriors, Maybe I should have stayed away in the bush land with Crowfeather. We could have started again.

We could have started another clan; I can just see it now. Crowstar and Leafpool, leaders of Bushclan or Desertclan. Oh this is torture; I can't lie here any longer!

I push myself up and slip between the sleeping cats, I have to be quick, the dawn patrol will be rising soon. Walking through the forest I come to a flat boulder on the Windclan border, it's cool and refreshing in the morning air, I just need some time to think.

Suddenly, I smell a patrol; Lionblaze is leading it, Foxleap and PoppyFrost too. I'd better hide until they've been through. Lionblaze is my son but he'll get suspicious if he finds me here. Although we are kin, he treats me with the contempt that I suppose I deserve after the lies I've told. He's very loyal to Squirrelflight.

Jumping down, I continue on my route back to camp. As I walk, the light gets stronger though the trees and an old conversation with Longtail comes back to me. Just after he was blinded, I was tending to a wound when we began to talk about destiny. He said to me, 'Life is a collection of events that shapes what we are, Leafpool. Although StarClan knows our final destiny, it's up to us how we get there. That part is up to you'

I'll show my clan what I can really do.

I'll change those events for the better. I'll be a real warrior.

I'll show them what life really is...

Phew! So what do people think? My work has been somewhat on hiatus due to some personal stuff so I'm rather rusty at all this!
