Chapter 1: Felicita's Dilemma
Felicita had gone to her father's study in order to discuss with him the possibilities of avoiding the marriage meeting. Unfortunately he had not heeded to any of her requests and simply dismissed her, telling her if she was to keep her title as the head of the Arcana Famiglia then she was required to find a marriage partner. If she did not, she would have to step down. Frustated, she had stormed out of the room and locked herself in her own study, not even allowing Luca in.
Somehow she had to cancel that meeting. There was no way she would see possible candidates. She wanted to fall in love on her own accord, not when others ordered her too. Her strawberry red hair bouncing side to side, she paced around her study, contemplating possible alternatives. Papa, had only said she needed to have a fiancé, and had not mentioned anything about a wedding… Sighing, she slid down into the black leather seat, and breathed in its new scent that tickled her nose. She wouldn't be able to use someone that way. That was too cruel; especially if she asked Nova or Liberta.
Liberta would be willing; Nova would not say no to her either, but she couldn't do that. If only she could think…then she would be able to find a way out of it. She needed time and space, but she was tired from an expedition held the day before and her eyelids kept drooping. She couldn't fall asleep yet…
Change of POV
The faint shadow of a smirk played on his face as he watched her emerald eyes flash bright with anger; the look of rebellion suited her heart-shaped face. He barely felt the tiny tickling sense as he disappeared from sight; his red haired goddess was surely going to lock herself in her study. He managed to slip in just before the door slammed, causing the portraits on the wall to shake. While he waited for her to fall asleep, he leaned back onto the pale wall, bidding his time. It didn't take long for her to sink into the depths of sleep seeing how exhausted she was. They had warned Mondo it would be difficult and dangerous, but he was determined to push her to the limits in order to allow her grow.
Slowly, he lowered his face to hers until he could whisper in her ears, "Bambina…"
When he got no response, he slowly picked her up and allowed himself to be seen. Her eyelashes fluttered as he took her to her bedroom. Carefully he laid her in her cotton bed, and covered her with her red silk sheets. A strand of fiery red fluttered across her face and his fingers played with the lock of hair for a little before he tucked it behind her delicate ear. He would have to scold her later, and tell her she shouldn't sleep with such an unprotected expression. He disappeared once again as Luca, her faithful servant and his childhood friend, entered obviously agitated at her for disappearing. He smirked as he saw him sigh in relief when he caught sight of her on the bed. He walked towards her and began to take off her boots with practiced movements.
It was obvious she had often slept with her boots on and Luca had often needed to take them off for her. Silently, he made his way out of the room. Just as he left, he heard the faint whisper from Luca. He snorted and hurried to the casino.
"Thank you, Debito…"
