The Incredible Hulk: Love and War-(this story takes place immediately after the episode Mystery Man). PROLOGUE-It was late afternoon. David Banner found himself walking in the woods with only his blue jeans and no shirt. He felt dazed. "What had happened?" he thought fearfully, "last I recall McGee and I were escaping from that forest fire, then I changed... no." He shut off the train of thought. He didn't want to think about it anymore. He knew what had happened. He found his duffell bag lying in the woods. He picked up the bag, and put on some fresh clothing. Luckily the creature didn't wander too far from where I last changed, or else I'd freeze to death. He noticed the tower of smoke rising up from the trees in the distance. He heard the sounds of firefighters nearby in the thicket. "You got to be kidding Joe- A BIG GREEN CREATURE?!" A woman's voice. David started moving faster through the woods. "I'll get to the firefighter's camp."he thought uneasily as he began to jog. "I'll get food and water, mabey a bed for the night then be on my way. " "I tell ya Bob that family that just drove in with that reporter says they saw that Hulk thing. My mother in law saw that thing in a snowstorm in Wisconsin once." David heard a gruff voice of firefighter somewhere behind him deep in the woods. "Hahahhahahhah. Yeah right! Let me guess...he was carrying a woman in his hand." David tripped on a stone and fell on his back. He quickly stood up again. The woman's voice again:"Oh cmon! That Mcgee guy that just got brought into camp, and then shipped out to a local hospital, is a tabloid reporter. he makes his living with a bottle of moonshine..." David saw the firefighter's camp a short distance in front of him now. He ran towards it. "A big green monster?" A man's crackly voice in the distance. "Damn this fire is everywhere! I just used up two buckets of water. Is that the one that terrorized the town of Vasaria years ago?" David ran faster and faster through the woods. He was really thirsty as well as hungry.

Much deeper in the woods, two massive ape like hands pulled apart two branches. Two animal eyes watched the firefighters hosing down some smoke. One man was singing Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. The being watching let out a loud, weird apelike howl and retreated back into the woods. The firefighters all looked up in shock!

ONE-The last of David's memories finally returned. He and Elaina Marks had just graduated medical school. Dr. Stanely Lieber was handing out the certificates with a big grin on his face...David walked into the camp. The rangers and firefighters took little notice as David stood looking around and brushing some mud off his red and purple checkered, short sleeve shirt. He grinned as the memory finished up, with he and Elaina going upstairs to Elaina's one bedroom flat she shared with her cousin, and he and Elaina falling into each other's arms for an afternoon makeout session on one of the beds, still in their graduation outfits..."Can I help you?" David turned to the young woman in the ranger uniform standing behind him. "Yes, well, I...uh...just got lost in the woods, and i was hoping I could get some food, water and a trip to the nearest town?" David said. The woman looked at David suspicously. "Well the nearest town is only a mile down the road from here."The red haired woman pointed to the north of the camp. "The mess tent is to the left of you. Bacon and tomatoe sandwiches. Coffee. Chocolate eclairs. Help yourself. Bottled water as well." David thanked the woman and walked to the mess tent. The woman watched him with her hand on her chin, then turned and walked off.

David moved quickly into the large mess tent. The area was unoccupied except for him. He picked up a tray and loaded it down with three bacon and tomatoe sandwiches, and a small bottle of drinking water. He also put fifteen sandwiches in his duffell bag. He also put a couple of chocolate eclairs in his bag. There were two plates of fried chicken at the end of the third row of sandwiches. David eagerly put them on his tray. "Man I don't think I've ever been this hungry,"David whispered to himself. "After spending all that time in the woods with nothing but berries to eat, "he thought,"I never knew I could miss solid food this badly." David took his tray to one of the wooden tables and chairs and sat down. "And I'm sooooooo thirsty," he thought as he drank the whole bottle of water in one gulp. A sixty something year old firefighter walked into the mess tent, and helped himself to a cup of coffee from the coffee machine at the entrance of the tent. The bearded, long haired man gulped down his coffee, took one look at David, shook his head and chuckled, "freeloader hippies." Then he walked out. David paid no attention to him but started eating one of his sandwiches. "At least all my memories have come back," thought David smiling broadly. He and Elaina were going steady. He brought her home to the family farm to meet his family (except his dad). His stepmother liked Elaina immediately...an exploding car...he couldn't get her out...he and Elaina were going steady. They were talking about starting their own institute with two other scientists. They were going to name it Culver, after David's great grandfather Culver Banner...He and Elaina were going steady...an exploding car...he was chasing Carol in the rainstorm, he sold the house after she died... "

Hey there mate." The firefighter walked right in front of David's table in the mess tent. David had just finished the last of his sandwiches on his tray as he turned his head to glance at the forty something year old guy before him. David had been lost in another daydream reviewing his previously lost memories. "I'm Commodore Boyd Mac. Im in charge of this firefighting group here." The man grinned as he held out his hand. David shook his hand while chewing his sandwich." David Bertinelli,"he said. "Pleased to meet you David," grinned Boyd, as he sat down slowly at David's table. He had wavy blonde hair and a moustache. David thought he looked alot like the film actor Peter Fonda. "My secretary told me that we had a stranger in camp. You just passing through? You got lost hiking in the woods?" David took a sip of water. "Something like that. I was on my way to somewhere's when I ended up getting sidetracked you could say. I just wanted to grab something to eat and be on my way to the nearest town." Boyd got up, walked to the coffee machine, poured himself a large cup with whipped cream and sat down again at David's table. "Okey dockey. Well it is a bit odd being that this location is pretty far off the beaten track for hikers." David stood up while slinging his duffell bag over his left shoulder. Boyd began sipping his coffee. "I could give you a lift to town if you want. The fire is almost gone now." Boyd chuckled as he stirred the coffee with his spoon. "My people are pros. Gi-Joe would be envious." David smiled as he put his hands in his pockets. "A lift into town would be fine." Boyd sipped more of his coffee. David went back to memory lane again. He wanted to make sure he remembered everything as before. The exploding car...Laura's trapped inside...he and Carol bribed the minster a thousand bucks not to say anything about him marrying a certain DR DAVID BANNER..."Let me just finish my coffee then I'll borrow a jeep and take you into town myself." Boyd spooned some whipped cream in his mouth. David put his hands on his hips. "That would be great," he said." More memory review. The exploding car on the highway...Laura's trapped inside...he can't get her out...he and Elaina are going steady...they found a location/a building to use as the new institute...then David gets offered a job-a temporary six month position at the Kirby Clinic in Boston, as a G.P...just as a replacement till the other guy Dr. Walters comes back from vacation in Hawaii...Hawaii...he chased Carol in the rain..."At least we never gave up trying," said Carol..."It's only for six monthes, I'll be back by then, then you and I will pick up as before," David whispers to Elaina as they lounge in front of the fireplace in David's loft. Glasses of champagne in their hands...their lips pressed against each other's...Boston..."The pay is good," David tells Elaina. "We can use that money to begin the institute."...David takes the amtrack to Boston, Elaina sees him off at the station..."It's just six monthes," David assures Elaina, "six monthes, then we'll pick up where we left off." Boyd threw his empty plastic coffee in the trash bin. "C'mon," he says to David, "let's get out of here before that big green monster comes back!" Boyd laughed. David laughed with him as they moved to the entrance of the mess tent. "That reporter and that family must have been hitting the pub. Ah well in addition to that reporter, the woman and child, that other guy is new on the job. He's only been with this unit for two monthes. He was probably a dope addict before that."

David laughed as they walked out of the mess tent. He decided on one last memory review. "When you've been an amnesiac for that long," thought David, "you want to make sure memory lane is exactly as it should be." "It's only six monthes Elaina," David assures Elaina as they kiss at the train station, "then I come back and everything will be as before"..."six monthes that's all"...Boston...David chased Carol through the rain storm..."I can't let McGee see me he thinks I'm dead," David says hurriedly to Julie...on the train to Boston David happens to read an interesting article in some paranormal magazine about some psychic named Annie Kaplan...David tells himself that six monthes later, after doing this job in Boston, then he and Elaina will pick up their romance as before. After all what's six monthes?...David walks into the Kirby Clinic on his first day. It's only six monthes till I see Elaina again, he tells himself. Then, at that moment, David sees one of the other doctors on staff at the clinic, Dr. Laura Ian come walking out of her office and grinning as she calls out the name of an elderly man sitting in the waiting room. Her short brown hair. Her gleaming blue eyes. Her shimmering voice. David can't take his eyes off her...

The firefighters put out the last smouldering embers with every hose they had with them. "Ok!" shouted a young black firefighter with a deep scar across her face."Our job is finished for the day. Let's head back to camp and grab some grub. I'm famished." The ten firefighters all quickly packed up their equipment and began the long walk back to the camp. At that moment as they were moving through a dense thicket and into a muddy area, one of the men pointed to something in the mud. As the ten of them looked down they noticed a few really large footprints in the mud. "Holy crap." gasped one of the men. "We're being stalked by Bigfoot?" asked the young black woman. Then at that moment they all heard a loud ape like growl in the darkness furthur ahead. "I'm going to check this out!" laughed the young black woman. "How about not," suggested one of the men, a fifty something year old veteran with a thick spanish accent, "let's just go home..." But the young black woman looked down and stared with interest at the footprints, and then slowly walked in the direction of the growl. She kept walking untill the others lost sight of her. They all just kept staring at the footprints. Then seconds later they all shook with horror as they heard another ape like growl and the young black woman came flying out of the woods and landed face down in the mud. She immediately got up and began running as fast as she could towards the camp. Her companions followed her

... David and Boyd sat together in the rusty, broken down jeep as the vehicle speeded down the mile long highway through the woods. "Have you been firefighting for long?" asked David trying to make some conversation. Boyd seemed amused by the question. "Like about right out of high school." The jeep swerved to avoid a deer. "What about you David what do you do for a living?" David shrugged. "Oh nothing really. I just drift around, a job here, a job there." At that moment the C.B radio in the jeep began beeping. Boyd took the radio in his left hand while driving with his right. "Mac here," he spoke into the radio. "Commodore, Susan here." The voice of Boyd's secretary and the woman David had met when he first walked into camp. "What's up Susan?" asked Boyd, his voice with a note of urgency. David took one of water bottles out of his duffell and took a long swig. He sighed as he remembered how Elaina had waited for him back in Sacramento for six monthes, while he and Laura had fallen in love and married. He wished now that he hadn't reviewed some of those memories...what was the other memory?...the creature is trapped in a cage in the desert while David ran to the bulldozer..."Well the rest of the firefighters have all called in back in camp, but that one woman, Marthason, is..." Susan couldn't stop herself from chuckling a bit...,"Marthason reported that she was just assaulted by Bigfoot! By an apeman!" Boyd and David both looked at each other. Boyd just paused then said only,"right." David took another swig of water. "Have Marthason report to my office at once when I get back," Boyd ordered into the mike. David slipped on a pair of sunglasses. "Yes sir," answered Susan, as Boyd put the radio back.

Just then a large, shadowy creature suddenly burst out of the woods in front of the jeep and dived into a swampy area at the right of the jeep. David was unable to get a close look at it. It was large...huge in fact...gigantic, shaggy, heavly muscled. Boyd stopped the jeep. His mouth slowly opened in shock. "GOOD GOD!" exclaimed Boyd. David only shook his head. "What was that?!" shouted Boyd as he and David stared in the direction the creature had run into. "I suppose we just saw a Bigfoot," said David. "I never really thought Bigfoot, sasquatch one way or the other." Boyd started up the jeep again. He put his foot down on the accelerator. "I'll get you into town then I want to have a long talk with that firefighter Marthason." David wiped some sweat from his brow. David and Boyd remained quiet during the rest of the drive down the highway, but all the while David kept noticing the large, ape like shaggy form seemingly following the vehicle down the road. David would turn every so often and see the dark shadowy figure peer at them out of the woods, or tiptoe quietly down the road, or run across the run from one side to the other behind the jeep. The footsteps would make huge, loud crashing sounds which shook the whole jeep. Boyd shivered in fear. It was approaching nightfall now. David kept glancing behind him and seeing the dark shadowy form moving down the road behind him, though he could never makeout any real details of the creature. "Weird," thought David. Boyd's hands both shook on the steering wheel.

The jeep shortly pulled up into the town of Satistid. David quickly got out of the vehicle, and shook hands again with Boyd. "Thanks for the lift," smiled David. "Best of luck David..." At that moment he was interrupted by a loud apelike whoop, whoop! Boyd looked around nervously. He pulled out a revolver. David looked in the direction of the whoop, whoop and began shaking his head slowly and uneasily. "Listen David, you check into the motel, I'm going to stick around and check this out." David sighed, shrugged his shoulders and began wandering about the tiny town looking for the only motel. As he spotted the large building-The Nat Motel-he thought he saw the large, dark apelike, gorilla type figure moving about in the woods at the left side of the town. A small hill could be seen in the distance at the left of the town.

The lady reporter in the office of the one newspaper building in the town of Satistid, sat interviewing the young farmer for over an hour. "I know what I saw lady!" the man was so excited he could barely get a word out. "I saw three of them. They were all about eight feet tall and covered with black shaggy hair." The red haired, freckle faced young man in a suit and tie fidgeted nervously in his chair. "I seen that animeal, saskatoch!" The blonde haired lady reporter wrote down the man's story on the notepad she had. She shook her head and smiled. "Now Mr. Best," the woman smiled, "try to calm yourself and tell me carefully, in detail, what it was you think you saw." "I alroody told you," Mr. Best the farmer was waving his hands about in fear. He was sitting at the left of the woman's desk, while the reporter herself sat there calmly listening to the crazy story. Her desk was littered with several old magazines, a couple of newspapers and an old tv guide, the cover of which had a photo from that one movie The Courtship of Eddie's Father. "Me see three of em critters!" Mr .Best shook his head in fear. "You know that one film, that there famisssss film of that lady one?' The reporter smiled again. "Yes everybody knows about that. You mean the Patterson film." Mr. Best leaned closer towards her. "Wallll that there dude Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin, they an a trip in the woods and dee see a female saskatoch. Dats just what aye seen. Big. Shaggy. Crested head." The reporter sighed and continued writing. "Ok Mr. Best." The woman glanced at the clock. "So what do you want us to do? This isn't exactly the Washington Post. "

As David made his way towards the motel, he again noticed the large, shadowy figure following him in the sprasely wooded area at the side of the town. "WHOOP! WOOP! WHOOP!" shouted the figure. David tightly gripped his duffell bag and ran towards the motel. The figure seemingly ran alongside him making giant strides! "Wow it must be like eight feet tall," marveled David as he turned to glance at the being while reaching the entrance to the motel.

He entered the building. David still heard the eerie whoops, whoops as the elderly male desk clerk signed him into the top floor room, and David handed him a wad of cash. D

Boyd sat still in the jeep parked in the carpark at the southern end of Satistid while listening to the loud apelike whoops, whoops echoing from all over town. He finally got on his C.B radio and decided to call the local sheriff...

David walked calmly into his nice looking motel room and dropped his duffell bag to the floor. He then sat down in a chair behind a desk in the room. He was exhausted after all the excitement of the day. Then seconds later, a small rock came right through his window! David stood up startled. The loud whoops, whoops got louder and louder outside the window. "oh my god," thought David tensely, "the what-ever-it-is is climbing up the side of the building!" David quickly reached for the phone in his room. An apelike hand came through the window. David dived to the left side of the bed and pushed it to the window. Then the whole window and wall caved in and a giant, apelike creature-the creature was male, a crested skull, thick jaws, sharp teeth, long arms-a bigfoot for sure thought David-and really big feet, suddenly burst into the motel room! David was stunned! His mouth opened in shock! The male bigfoot took one long stride towards him-it was eight foot tall to be sure-and reached for David to pick him up. "I've heard stories of sasquatches kidnapping people," thought David in fear as he tried to make a move towards the door of the motel. At that moment David tripped on the creature's right leg and fell face down on the floor, hitting his head. David lay there in pain, blood gashing from head then it happened!

The bigfoot looked down at David in shock, as David's eyes turned white, and his body grew bigger and took on a greenish hue! David's red and purple checkered short sleeve shirt split into shreds as the muscles grew, David's jeans spilt, his boots split, and the Hulk slowly stood up and turned to face the bigfoot! The bigfoot opened his mouth wide in shock and surprise! The Hulk waved his arms and fists at the bigfoot. The bigfoot tried to push the Hulk back with his left hand, but the Hulk grabbed his hand and pushed the him back against the wall instead, while growling. The bigfoot then picked up the table and chair in the room and tried to defend itself against the growling, raging green behemoth in front of him. "Get back!" The bigfoot shrieked in it's own language.

People on the street looked up in shock, as they saw the giant, male bigfoot go flying out of the motel in the side of the hotel-back first-and land on his feet on the ground below. They were even more shocked when they saw the Hulk jump out of the side of the motel and land on the street next to the bigfoot. The people all went running away, shouting in fear. The bigfoot punched the Hulk in the stomach, hard! The Hulk bent over and collapsed to the ground in pain. The bigfoot then grabbed the Hulk's right arm and flung him against a tree in the sparsely wooded area at the side of the town. Dazed, growling, the Hulk slowly got to his feet, and grabbed the tree with both hands and tore the tree out of the ground. He then hurled the tree as hard as he could at the bigfoot. The tree hit the bigfoot in the chest and sent him flying into a lampost. The bigfoot lay on his back in shock for a second, then quickly jumped up high in the air while shouting:"WHOOP! WHOOP! WHOOP!" Then the bigfoot went running towards the Hulk-his feet shaking the whole street while growling, as loud as he could:"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" His mouth was wide open, his sharp teeth showing, his heavy browridges lowered. The Hulk ran towards the bigfoot as well while letting out bloodcurdling snarl! The Hulk and the bigfoot then wrestled each other to the ground.

At that moment Boyd and the sheriff came running to the spot where they heard all the noise coming from. Both of them raised their revolvers. The Hulk and the bigfoot looked up at the two men, released their grips on each other and each went running off into the woods: the bigfoot ran first and the Hulk pursued him. Boyd and the sheriff just stood there in shock. "I'll be damned!" Boyd shouted over the heavy din of the Hulk's and the bigfoot's loud footsteps, "there really is such a green creature after all!" They stood watching the Hulk chase the bigfoot as fast as possible. "What the heck was that?" said the sheriff-the tall, middle aged, dark haired man slowly holstered his revolver, and Boyd did the same.

TWO-The Hulk ran after the bigfoot all through the wooded area near the town in every direction possible. Both the Hulk and the bigfoot growled as loudly as possible. Finally, the bigfoot ran out of breath and just slowed down and stopped. The Hulk stopped growling and slowed down as well. Neitheir creature wanted to fight anymore. The two creatures just stood and stared at each other in sparsely wooded area. Just then the Hulk heard more apelike whoops, whoops coming from somewhere's ahead of him. He stood there quietly staring in the direction the sounds had emanated from.

At that moment, seven more bigfoots stepped out of a glade and approached the pair. Three females and four males, all about thirtiesh. The Hulk just grunted in puzzlement. The male bigfoot greeted all of the other bigfoots then turned and just stared at the Hulk for a few minutes. In fact all of the bigfoots just stood staring at the Hulk. "What is it?" said one of the females in their own language. "I never seen one of the humans like that before," said one of the males. The Hulk couldn't help looking at one of the females, with much interest. They two of them made eye contact for a minute, and the Hulk smiled. The female bigfoot smiled also. The Hulk had a brief, faint memory of having first seen Elaina Marks sitting in the front row in the classroom, during the lecture in surgery, but the memory quickly faded. The Hulk couldn't take his eyes off the female bigfoot. She was shorter than he. He couldn't take his eyes off her. Nor could she of him. "What is it?" said one of the other females as she looked at the Hulk. The bigfoot who the Hulk had chased put his hand gently on the Hulk's shoulder. "I don't know what you are," he said in his own language. "I saw normal white one change into this thing," he said to the other bigfoots. "We meant you no harm. We live in the greeness near this white man concrete jungle." The Hulk just grunted and shook his head. "We have always lived here. There be many, many more of us in the greenness." The Hulk glanced at him, then glanced again at the female bigfoot he'd had his eye on. "Our number have gone down and we be reduced to capturing white ones to mate with one of us." The Hulk softly grunted then moved slowly towards the female he'd had his eye on. "I go out today to capture a good looking white one I see, to capture him to bring him to mate with one of our women." The bigfoot's language came out as a series of weird clicks, and grunts and chirps. "Then he change to you. I know understand." The bigfoot ran his hand over his brow. The Hulk and the female bigfoot he had his eye on kissed passionately. Then at that moment, the Hulk kneeled down on the ground and wrote a sentence in the mud, the words suddenly just came to him, he wrote the words with his finger. I LOVE YOU. The Hulk couldn't understand where he knew those words from. The Hulk then rose up and took the female bigfoot in his arms. "We meant you no harm," repeated the male bigfoot. He looked at the Hulk in astonishment. "But what be you?" The Hulk wasn't listening.

Boyd and the sheriff were in the jeep driving far into the woods on the dirt road. The sheriff was driving. "This is the most incredible thing I ever saw," shuddered Boyd. "I can't I ever believed in bigfoot before. And that green thing..." The sheriff wasn't listening, he was just glancing down at the massive footprints in the mud near the tire tracks, he saw in his headlights. "Yup they defintely went this way alright!" shouted the sheriff. "it's creature feature all the way! Yeeeeeeehay!" Boyd just sighed. "I really don't know what I'm doing here. I'm a firefighter not some amatuer monster hunter." The sheriff laughed.

Meanwhile, a mile away in the forest, the Hulk walked arm in arm with the female bigfoot he had his eye on. He was grinning broadly. The other bigfoots stood nearby foraging for food. "You could stay with me forever green one," spoke the female bigfoot lovingly. She grinned showing her sharp teeth. "Ours is a peaceful life far from the the noise and pollution of the violent white ones." The two stopped walking and turned to face another. They kissed passionately on the lips. "You stay with me my Hulk," she whispered in her own language in a series of chirps and clicks. Then a second later they began walking very slowly through the woods arm in arm again. The Hulk had another brief memory from being David Banner, he remembered holding a crying Laura in his arms, she'd just got the telegram about her brother killed in Va-it-name? No it was Vonitame. No, no, no no. The Hulk tried to remember:"Lara's bro kalled in Vuatname. Votooitnam? Vumitnami? Vietname? Lara bro kalled. Duhhhhhhhhhhh." Hulk couldn't recall. The female bigfoot continued her soothing tone in clicks and grunts and chirps. The Hulk and she walked very slowly under the moonlight in the woods. The other bigfoots stood by digging up some roots from the ground. "I be your bride," crooned the female bigfoot. "You be my man. My Hulk." At that moment the Hulk and the female bigfoot turned to each other and kissed passionately and embraced each other. They rolled all over the ground in a passionate embrace.

THREE-Just then the Hulk and the bigfoots all heard the sounds of a jeep approaching. The Hulk and the female bigfoot quickly stood up. The Hulk grunted. The bigfoots got very excited and nervous. "We have to go! The violent white ones approach!" The bigfoots were jumping and down and shouting and screeching. "They come! They bring danger and thundersticks!" The bigfoots all began running deeper into the woods, and the female bigfoot tried to pull the Hulk to come with her, by tugging on his shoulder. "Come my Hulk!" she shouted in grunts and clicks. "Come with me,my Hulk..." Then a shocked look came over her face as she noticed the Hulk's face changing, the greenish tinge becoming white. She gasped. "You become a white one?" As the jeep pulled up into view she quickly darted into the woods out of sight.

Boyd and the sheriff jumped out of the jeep and shined their flashlights on a tired and dazed David standing in the woods wearing only a ripped pair of jeans. "David!" shouted Boyd, "are you ok?" David rubbed his hands over his eyes. He touched his forehead where the gash had been, but it was all healed up. "Yeahhhhhh." he said weakly. Boyd and the sheriff hustled David into the jeep. The sheriff got behind the wheel. David got in the back seat folding his arms over his chest because of the cold. The jeep quickly drove away.

The bigfoots watched the jeep drive away to the town of Satistid clearly seen a mile in the distance. The one female bigfoot had her eye on David in the jeep. "I go back for him. For my Hulk. For the David one who become Hulk green one." The other bigfoots shook their heads. "It could be dangerous," grunted and chirped one of the other females. "I know you love your... Hulk...but we must go on. The white ones may invade our feeding areas." The other female pounded the ground with her fists. "We stay!" she shouted. "I go back for my Hulk! David become Hulk. I go back for David who become my Hulk." One of the male bigfoots shook his head. "Mabey it be bad idea to kidnap humans to be our mates. White ones bring toooooo much destruction."

David sat in the sheriff's office wearing fresh clothing. Boyd stood behind the sheriff while David to the left of the sheriff. The sheriff sat at his desk writing on his typewriter. Some reporters stood outside the locked office, and David could hear them talking amongst themselves. The sheriff shook his head while he typed. "Craziest thing I ever heard," he said, "a guy gets kidnapped by a bigfoot and runs into some big green creature." David smiled faintly as he drank his coffee. The sheriff then looked suspicously at David. "I don't know sir but I get the feeling your not telling me everything. I don't know why..." "Sheriff," interrupted David, "could we just get my statement over with so I can go back to my new room at the motel and get some sleep." David yawned.

Just then the door to the office opened. The blonde female reporter looked in. "Sheriff a Mr. Best wants to say a few words to you. He says he's seen those bigfoot things as well. And we have someone from the National Register coming..." At that moment David stood up quickly, a nervous look on his face, while setting down his coffee mug. "Listen sheriff, I told you what happened, now if you don't mind I'd like to just go back to the motel and get some sleep. I'll be out of town by morning." The sheriff looked up at David, then glanced sharply at the reporter, then looked back up at David again. "Sure thing, Mr. Bertinelli. Thanks alot." David walked out of the office, just at that moment, an attractive middle aged man in a safari outfit with a slight irish accent walked into the office. "Sheriff Les, I'm Peter Byrne, I represent the Bigfoot Research..." David didn't what the rest of the man with the irish accent had to say, as he shut the door behind himself.

It was dawn. David awoke in his bed in his room. He thought he'd heard more of the same strange apeish whoops whoops coming from far off in the distance. David sat up in bed. He was shirtless. He dated out of bed in his underwear and put on jeans, boots and blue and white striped plaid sports shirt. He heard more very very faint apelike whoops whoops noises. Then nothing. David picked up his duffell bag, zipped it up and slung it over his shoulder. "I have to get out of town as fast as I can," he thought, "the Hulk's been seen. That's dangerous for me. When McGee recovers he'll be coming here." David tiptoed to the door and nervously opened the heavy wooden rectangle and fled the room.

David ran into the street away from the motel. Everybody in Satistid was still fast asleep. David began making his way to the bus station. Just in the wooded area at the right side of the town he noticed three of the bigfoot creatures. He turned his head away and got ready to move in the opposite direction when two bigfoot males-both about eight feet tall, both took huge strides out of the woods and onto the street and got on both sides of David. David shook his head in shock and bewilderment as the bigfoots made a series of clicks and grunts and chirps and then both males grabbed David and started pulling him off the street and into the woods.

The three walked a short distance through the woods into a glade where about thirty or so bigfoots all showed up out of the woods and encircled a very, very shocked David! David cringed. "Look, all I want is to go on my way and that's all." David gestured with his hands. "I guess the reason you want me is because you know...that...I'm one of you." David sighed. "But I don't want to be one of you I want to cure myself." David gestured with his hands to his chest. "Can-you-understand-me?" At that moment the bigfoot who had confronted David the previous night, stepped forth from the group, and stared David deeply into David's eyes. David felt himself going into some kind of hypnotic trance. The bigfoot just kept staring. Images came into David's mind of the bigfoot creatures living peacefully in the woods, of the Hulk being led into the group and romancing the female bigfoot. More images came into David's mind, the bigfoots being pursued by hunters, then a voice in David's head: "You become one of us. You become the one...the Hulk. There be no place for you in white one's place, but you could live with us. Hulk would be accepted with us. This could be your home."

The trance ended. David shook his head. He looked up with interest and shock at the bigfoots. He knew what they wanted from him. It was so unbelieveable to him. Just then they all heard gunshots way in the distance. The bigfoots began running away. David began running as well behind them.

Three hunters-two forty something year old men and twenty something year old one, all dressed in red deerstalker caps and outfits were running in the woods opening fire from their rifles at the bigfoots. "Hot dang!" shouted the twenty year old one. "We can bag ourselves a live bigfoot! Hot dang!" The group of hunters moved swiftly through a glade.

The bigfoots all shrieked and growled as they dived for cover in the woods. David was running far behind them. The bigfoots all made huge, long strides while David lagged pathetically behind them. the gunshots were getting louder. David turned and saw the hunters to the right of him. THe bigfoots all jumped up and down and howled as loud as possible. "Leave them alone!" shouted David. "You sons of bitches!" shouted David in anger. The gunshots continued. The bigfoots kept jumping, and running and screaming. David turned to the hunters while running and shouted again, in rage:"LEAVE THEM ALONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"

David's voice became a loud growl, his eyes turned white, his body grew bigger, his muscles expanded and tore his shirt right off of him. His jeans split, his boots ripped. Then it wasn't David running but the Hulk. The Hulk glared and growled at the hunters. "OH MY GOD!" shouted all of the hunters together. The Hulk then ran towards the hunters, and grabbed their rifles before any of them had a chance to shoot. He tossed the rifles into a river nearby. The bigfoots then turned and ran towards the hunters as well. One male bigfoot picked up one of the forty year old hunters and tossed him into the treetops, while another one picked up the two others and pushed them towards the Hulk, who the growled and picked up both of them and tossed them both face first against two tree trunks. The Hulk and the sasquatches then all jumped up and down in savage victory cries, then they all turned and ran a short distance away.

The Hulk was standing in the woods facing the group of bigfoots. He just growled quietly. Then at that moment the female bigfoot whom the Hulk had romanced the night before, slowly stepped forth out of the group and approached him. The Hulk moved very fast to her and grabbed her and kissed her passionately on the lips. The two then walked slowly away from the other bigfoots together. They finally turned to face one another. The female bigfoot wrapped her arms around Hulk's neck and looked him in the eyes. "You return to me my Hulk. Now you stay with me. You be my Hulk forever." The Hulk touched her cheek. There were tears in his eyes. He grunted.

The female bigfoot led the Hulk by his right hand to the entrance of the cavern. "This be our dwelling. You stay with me. Stay with me hide here from the white ones." The Hulk took her in his arms and kissed her passionately on the lips again. Then she stared at the Hulk intently into his eyes and put her hand to his forehead. The Hulk went into a hypnotic trance. Then she shook her head, tears in her eyes. "No, it would be not right." She clicked and grunted in her language. "As David you seek only to end that which you consider an illness. It would not be right for me to keep you here. As David all you desire is to end your Hulk condition." She was crying now and she rested her head against the Hulk's chest. The Hulk only grunted in confusion. "But oneday my Hulk, oneday mabey you will not cure but learn to control your condition? Mabey then you come back to me?" The other bigfoots had all gathered now. "We must leave now," spoke one of the male bigfoots. "More whitemen may come." The Hulk's face began to change, his greeness faded...

EPILOGUE-David walked back into the town, wearing a white jacket and a blue turtle neck shirt and jeans. His duffell bag slung over his left shoulder. He walked to the greyhound bus station and was met by Boyd as approached a bench in the station. "Oh hi David, I thought I'd see you off." David and he shook hands. David grinned. "Yes well it's been quite a time we had." Boyd laughed quietly. "Yes, it sure has. Unfortunately nobody still has no proof of bigfoot. But we both know." The bus had arrived. The female voice on the speaker:"All aboard for the town of Lewisville!" "Goodbye my friend," said David. Boyd just nodded and smiled. David got on the bus.

The female bigfoot just sat crosslegged in the cave quietly weeping.

David watched the town of Satstid fade away in the distance as he relaxed in his seat.
