BTW: Hey everyone, Liz here. I've taken another run through to clean up the story and fix patches that needed it. It's still not perfect, but trust me it has improved. Something that is VERY IMPORTANT: the chapters switch off on who they focus on. The rotation is Marshall, Gumball, Ignitus. Please keep this in mind as you read! Thank you.
The day looked gloomy and dull to Marshall Lee. He was silently floating around in Fionna's house and was disappointed, as nothing was really happening. Thunder roared as a storm raged outside, the smell of bacon waffles floated down from the kitchen, and Fionna looked about as bored as he was. He'd come with intentions of talking with her, but he tossed the idea around in his head uncertainly. How do I even begin? he wondered, but he continued to putz around with different ideas before settling on a crude plan.
Ok, he thought. First, let's lighten the mood in this morgue. Remaining invisible, he went up to the kitchen and snuck over to where the cooked, juicy, red bacon was, and when Cake was looking, made himself visible for a second while he stole a strip. Cake hissed and almost scratched Marshall's eyeballs out, causing him to backtrack downstairs rapidly. Oh, my glob! Too was close! Marshall thought as he quickly went down to the sitting room where Fionna was. She was standing alertly with her sword brandished; she must have heard Cake hissing. Now for the real fun, Marshall Lee thought wickedly as he stood right in front of Fionna and waited until she let her guard down. There! Fionna took a breath like she was going to call up to her frightened friend when Marshall put his most demonic face on and turned visible once more. Fionna screamed.
When Fionna shrieked in his face, Marshall Lee burst out laughing. When the adventuress calmed down enough to pull herself together, she turned the brightest red possible. "Marshall Lee!" she shouted. "What the heck was that for?" She sheathed her sword and angrily placed her hands on her hips.
"Oh, c'mon Fionna, I was just having some fun!" Marshall Lee said cheekily, noting that Fionna looked as red as a tomato. He knew he was going to pay for scaring her later, but oh, was the look on her face worth it! As he tried to stifle another outbreak of snarky giggles, Fionna noticed the bacon, and frowned.
"And you stole bacon from Cake!" she scorned, and Marshall Lee sneered.
"Hah, yeah, and had I been any closer she would have scratched my eyes right outta my head. I don't need that, though. They're red enough," Marshall said as he looked into Fionna's own sapphire colored eyes. He could see she was calming down and decided since he had her attention there was no going back. Part two, action! "I should probably tell you that I didn't come here just to steal bacon, though it was very good," the vampire said as he sat down in a chair, opened a window, and threw the now white strip of bacon out into the rainy day.
Fionna sat down, realizing his change in tone. She looked at him curiously, "What's up?"
