A.N.- I love Dr. Horrible sing along blog, and wanted to write a fanfic for a while. I wrote this one shot a while ago, and I decided now would be the perfect time to publish.

I don't own Dr. Horrible. If I did then I wouldn't have had to pay to get it on bluray, I would just get free copies. And I'd be making money off this.

Who, where, when, and why.

Who?

Her name was Penny. She worked for charities and was always trying to better the world in some way. She was cheerful even when the day outside was miserable. She seemed to see the world as it was, and she wanted to change it too. But she would help by doing only ever good. She was light where he was dark.

Where?

The coin wash Laundromat. Not even a very big Laundromat, but not so small that it was just another hole in the wall. Out of the way? maybe a little, he wouldn't go there if it was far. Just a simple place, nothing special about it. But he knows that that's where she is, and that's enough.

When?

The washer and dryers in his apartment building had stopped working. There was always one out of order, but never did they all break down at once. It was a Saturday, and he was running out of clean clothes, so he went to the coin wash. He saw her there, and he'll see her again Wednesdays, he'll go just to see her there. The laundry room in his building works better than ever now, but he still always goes to the coin wash.

Why?

Ah. That is the million dollar question.

Why?

Why her? There were plenty of people who did charity work or smiled a lot. He tells himself that she could be the same as everyone else. But he knows it's not true.

She seems more alive than anybody else. She has such passion for what she does, she really does want to help the world. She is kind even when life turns on her.

She is everything that he is not, but always wanted to be.

Is that why he loves her? Because it's not just a crush.

Because they are so different, he knows it won't work.

What he doesn't know is that they may be different, but they are really the same.

Maybe that's why it will never work, and why they will always try but always miss.
