A/N

I'm not sure what the pairing is lol. But if I had to pick based on what I typed, because well it just kinda happened, Tatsuki x Orihime. Although you could just say it's Tatsuki + Orihime. A pairing isn't really necessary at all actually I don't expect to get that much feedback on such a rush and hurried piece but whatever (it's short and it kinda sucks). Enjoy!

Warning: I apologize for any OOC' ness!

Disclaimer: There's no way I own Bleach. I do not make any profit from this. I'm simply using them for my own sick and twisted purposes.

princess s h a t t e r

Sometimes, Orihime contemplates the meaning of the word 'princess'.

Sometimes she thinks it's a titleprettylittlecurseweakness because she's not so sure that it's something like being the daughter of a monarch, or being married to a prince. A princess sits in her bedroom all day, sheltered. Innocent. Pure. A princess knows nothing of the world outside beyond her castle. Ignorance is bliss, as the saying goes.

But ignorance, Orihime thinks, is just plain ignorant.

In her storybooks full of happy endings and far away lands and pixie dust she skims the images imprinted upon iridescent paper, beautiful maidens incased in layers upon layers of satin and silken gowns, hidden away from the world in glass towers. Princesses. Always waiting to be saved. After all a princess is nothing without her knight in shining armor, right?

Orihime decides that she doesn't want to be a princess.

Afterall, what makes Orihime a princess . . . of anything?

Sometimes, Orihime contemplates the meaning of the word 'princess'.

Sometimes she thinks it means weakuselessdamselindisressburden because she's not so sure that it means being the embodiment of so many wonderful things like people make it out to be, not when princesses can't even protect themselves. Princesses can't fight. Princesses can't do anything but sit around and look pretty.

Orihime realizes that once upon a time she may have been a princess.

And, that's it.

Once upon a time.

But not anymore.

( This time, I'll do the saving, Tatsuki . . . )

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

"Orihime…"

The sound of cascading aspheric crystal rings through the air like silver tongued bells.

She turns her head, gray eyes staring off into the distance.

"Princess?" Tatsuki offers with a weak smile.

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

"Neither," is all she can say after awhile, and the auburn-haired shone girl turns her attention back to the rain.
