Gun shots rang out, across the land. Even from seven miles away, I heard the whitecoats with Jeb. I ran as fast as my lean legs could carry me. I'm not gonna make it.
My heart pounded with my feet. The old shoes covering my toes were so thin, they were like socks. The old soles flapped at the air like a wounded duck, as I ran, hovering a foot off the ground. I bet you're wondering, how in the world is she ding this? Well, you could say I'm a freak. My pitch black wings pumped hard as I ran to get myself going faster, up into the air. I could feel pain all of a sudden, and the life being sucked out of someone far away. It still stung though. Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm Shadow, and I'm on a mission to find my brother. Fang is presumed dead to all of us mutants, but I never felt him fade. I can control your pain, give it or take it away. The fate of the world is literally in my hands. If I ever make it to meet any of you readers, then you can call me Shay. That's what my friends would call me if I ever had any.
Fang P. O. V.
My silence is my solitude. My life, is only temporary. My wings pumped harder and harder. I was two hundred feet up in the air, the wind being my guide. I was going to find her, she was the only reason I had left to live. Max probably doesn't love me anymore, seeing as that I left her after Total and Akila's wedding. She must want to kill me, again.
I had to find Shay, I just knew it. Life is not worth living without my sister. Just thinking about her reminds me of when we were little, I was ten and she was four.
*Flashback*
Jeb walked into the room that held our cages. Shay sat in hers silently as usual and Max was comforting her as tears fell. Shay's wings had literally just come through and were a beautiful pitch black color with dark grey streaks in a few of her small feathers. Jeb fumbled with a key and unlocked my cage. He took me out. I thought he was going to take Shay, too, so I didn't fight. Then, he unlocked Max's cage and the rest of the Flock's cages. He led us through the door, and only then did he realize he forgot Shay.
"Fang, Shay will not be. Coming with us." He said calmly. Only then did I start to kick and scream. He lifted my up and covered my mouth as I bit him. Everything I had, was gone. My sister might even be dead by now. She was alone, and scared. Now, she was really a freak. She was one of us. She was truly a birdkid. I took Max's hand from my high position and looked at her, my black eyes sorrowful.

The two of us flew silently. Axel followed my every move, flapping his light grey and brown wings at the same time as I did. His sister had forgotten about him, and we both knew it. However, he knew we needed to find her, and Fang. He knew why, because he could tell the future. Axel moved his right arm and a gust of wind blew us upward. Did I mention that he could control the air? And guess what, I control the water. Our siblings control the other elements. Fang is fire, and Axel's sister is earth.
