A/N- This is just a short story I wrote for english. We were supposed to write out a situation in which Walter's daydreaming gets him into trouble.
"Come on, Walter!"
Walter quietly stumbled across the forest floor behind his friend Mack's house. Panting, he finally caught up with him at the clearing. Mack climbed nimbly up the tree where they hid their makeshift bows and arrows.
"Walter, hurry up. We'll have to go for dinner soon."
Obediently, Walter awkwardly clambered up into the tree. Once he was up, he began to make arrows. The straight shaft, the feathered end, the pointed tip…
"Let the girl go!" he shouted from atop the castle wall," or I'll free her myself, and you won't live to see it!"
"Robin Hood! He will save her!" declared someone in the square.
"Well, don't just stand there, hang her and capture him!" screeched the Sheriff of Nottingham.
He leapt down off the castle wall and met the first guard. Dodging every blow, he made his way to the girl. The crowd gasped as the lever was pulled and she dropped. Quickly, he turned and fired an arrow right through the rope of the noose. She dropped to the ground and sprinted for the gates, but there was a concentration of guards there and she was caught.
"Help!" she cried fearfully.
He ran over, aimed at the guard, and fired…
"Aah- Walter!"
Walter's eyes grew wide in shock as he realized the horrible thing he had just done. He watched in slow motion as his best friend fell from the tree.
