The Voices
"I've always been able to hear the voices. The voices that no one else had heard. Only I could hear them. They all believed I was imagining it all. I wish that were the case. They didn't know the truth, they won't ever know the fear behind the voices. They always taunted me for as long as I can remember. They were never on my side. They never revealed themselves to my parents or my friends making me seem insane or crazy. I was along in this, and I was scared."
"October 13th, 2016 was the day my parents passed away in a fatal car accident. I went to live with my grandparents but they were not so good to be around. They used to beat me; they tried to kill me. I left to live on my own. I couldn't stand their abusive ways. My name is Jacob Alexander Kendrick, I am now 11 years of age. I live on my own in an old treehouse. It isn't in perfect condition, but it's given me shelter from wild animals and other harmful things. I am not very trustworthy since I steal from the local food stands so I may survive. This old lady comes and brings me food once in a while so it stops me from stealing."
"Everything was going pretty well until one day when the voices took a major step forward now becoming what I call the Shadow People. It was early October, but I'm not exactly for sure what day it is now since I have no way of keeping track. It was dark already and the day had gone by so quick it seemed to be faster than it usually was. It was extremely cold and o couldn't help but shiver to gain as much warmth as possible. I start to feel a tad bit warmer until I hear a slight laugh over the sounds of the wind. I jerked up in a quick motion to see what it was, but I couldn't quite figure out where it came from. I climed down from the treehouse. I started to wander around to try and find any signs of anyone around but gained no luck."
"Suddenly a faint shadow was visible behind me as faint whispers echoed from behind me as I felt the breath on the back of my neck. A chill went up my spine then I quickly turned around seeing a distorted faced shadow person staring at me with cold, souless eyes. I yelled in fear as it grabbed for me. I ran as fast as I could in fear of my safety. I couldn't believe what I just saw. It's never gotten this serious before. What do I do? Where do I go? My heart was palpitate. I didn't know what I could do. Had I gotten away? Had I lost it? I refused to look back. I couldn't get myself to look back."
"Terror took over my face as I breathed heavily. In my stomach and uneasy feeling started to brew within. It felt as if a rock had landed in the bottom of my stomach. I suddenly realized I could see my breath as I became terrified all over again. I tried to run, but it felt like I was being held back by a strong force. I soon overcame the feeling as I forcefully pushed myself forward into a running motion. The pain gradually started to disappear. I felt sudden relief as I had seen a house in the distance. It was a large looking house the moonlight brightening it up seemed to be a bit calming. I could be safe there."
"I quickly pushed the door opened scrambling inside to protect myself from the shadows' grasp. The door suddenly slammed and locked with a loud, echoing CLICK as I looked back. I looked around slightly noticing the place was completely dark yet a rancid smell burnt my nostrils like a lighter to a candlestick. I started to wander around the place hoping to find anyone to help me. I didn't expect to see what lingered behind me."
