Genos was Saitama's lover.
Saitama wasn't interested in dating guys, or dating in general, and at the very least he'd assumed his future partner would be human. He never thought he would eventually be dating a male cyborg, of all things. Not that mechanical beings turned Saitama on; they didn't, but neither did males. And yet, Genos was both.
Saitama tried not to think too hard about it.
Yet there were times when Saitama couldn't help it. Like when Dr. Kuseno was otherwise indisposed and Saitama ended up babysitting Genos' mutilated body until the Dr. was available to repair Genos' back at the lab.
In this case, Saitama had just saved the city from a meteor headed straight for Earth. When he used Genos' cellphone to call Dr. Kuseno, he found out the man was apparently out of town on business.
"I'll be back as soon as possible," the doctor assured him, before hanging up.
Saitama sighed, placing Genos' phone on the apartment table.
Genos was propped up against the futon, the only sparks of life coming from the faint lights of the cyborg's spherical heart, his power core.
"I'm… still here," Genos said quietly. A soft humming noise created a reverb effect on his voice, strangely mechanical.
"I know," Saitama replied.
Saitama wasn't one for introspection. He generally left that for Genos, but seeing his boyfriend a few sparks away from shutting down left him uneasy. The cyborg had enough energy to stay conscious, and keep his speech systems online, but that was it.
Genos' left hand twitched.
"Sensei," Genos pleaded. His hand twitched again.
"Yeah," Saitama replied. He walked over to the futon and sat down, adjusting them until he had Genos' in his lap. After a few minutes, Genos spoke up.
"If only the Hero Association had called you instead of me, maybe then—"
Saitama cut him off. "Enough of that."
Saitama placed Genos' head against his chest, so the cyborg could hear the beating of his heart. They were both alive, and that's all that mattered. Saitama ran his fingers through Genos' soft, blonde hair.
"I love you, Genos," Saitama said. "You're safe here."
"Sensei…" Genos trailed off. Just when Saitama thought he had finished speaking, Genos spoke up again. "I love you, Saitama. I'll always love you."
Saitama smiled and held his lover close.
"Yeah, I know," Saitama replied. "I know."
