It was a solo mission, find and assassinate Uchiha Itachi.
A complex mission that would prove to herself, she was not weak. To prove to him, she is strong and will kill him, not matter what.
The only problem was someone else got to him first. Looking down she stared at the bloodied Uchiha, all he seemed to be doing was leaning against the burned tree and stare at the moon above.
"Y-you're him" she stated in shock, he looked down. The deadly crimson eyes, faded to a deep black. A smirk appeared onto his face. She shuddered and looked from his chest to his face.
"What is it to you, Sakura-san?" Itachi questioned glaring at her, even without his sharingan there to glare at her, the onyx eyes weren't any better. She felt a strange feeling, like sympathy for this... this muderous villan, the one who cause Sasuke so much pain. Firmly she glared back at him, never breaking the eye contact.
They sat there for a while in silence when he asked "you were the girl on my brother's team weren't you"
Her eyes softened, "yes, until he left for Orochimaru to gain the power to kill you.." she mumbled.
Sighing he looked back up at the moon, the illumination from the white circle in the sky brought out each others figures clearly. "I assume you will finish the job, of my brother?" he questioned.
The last leaf of the tree above him, seemed to fall down seperating them from each other. Landing softly onto Itachi.
"Yes, I will"
Itachi looked down at the leaf the lines under his eyes were seeming like the scars from his past. He couldn't see them, but he knew they were there. "Aa..." he replied murmured.
And now he sat in prison waiting to be executed, even though he could escape he choose not to. He would just end up dying somewhere else.
Sitting there he watched as she walked closer towards him, knife in her hand. She leaned down, touching his face. The skin was soft, yet still cold from the snow which had been falling since the morning before. He glared toward her as she touched his skin, flinching at human contact.
He took her hand which held the knife, bringing it towards his chest.
She brought the knife up, and brought it quickly down.. Stopping less than an inch away.
"Sakura-san, do you wish to prove yourself weak, not being able to stick a knife though the heart, which is supposedly there." He whispered into her ear. She started to shake, "Listen, Uchi-" he cut her off. "Don't call me that." he growled at her. "Itachi-san, listen.. Past the crickets, past everything"
Suprisingly, he did. Involuntaringly (sp?), he stopped and listened. He heard thumping, the thumping of his... heart.
He grabbed her hand, yet again. Dragging it down the left side of his chest. Stopping six inches below the nape of his neck. He brought her hand and began pressing it down, he then hesitated hisself.
She finished the job, she put the kunai deeper until it hit his heart.
Quickly, he grabbed the back of her head, he brushed his lips against hers, "Thank you, Sakura-san.." he said, slowly closing his eyes.
Her hands were bloodied with an Uchiha's blood, Uchiha Itachi's blood.
Trying to reach his falling head, the necklace he wore, snapped off.
She paused. A single tear ran down her face.
He did have regrets, thats why he didn't fight.
Thats why he thanked her, for... killing him.
Quickly she picked up the necklace, slipped on her mask, and ran.
Ran back to her home.
To his home.
