Well, would you look at that, another HDM one-shot from me. Eh, more like a drabble.

The rhythm of the rain

Lyra watched as the rain hit the window of the room she was in. Pantalaimon was sitting in her lap; the girl's hand absentmindedly ran across her dæmon's back. It was a stormy night and thunder roared out, and lightning flashed brightly. Winds blasted, trees violently thrashing around. Water droplets hit the glass, rolling down the window. Lyra sighed deeply, sinking back into her chair.

"I miss him."

Pantalaimon glanced up, his little nose twitched. "Will?"

"Yeah."

The dæmon sighed, rubbing his head against her hand. "Lyra, I miss them too," he whispered.

Lyra watched the rain, a smile twitched at her lips. "I wonder what they're doing?" she asked.

"Maybe watching the rain," Pantalaimon suggested, giving off a chuckle.

Lyra smirked, glancing down at her dæmon. "Yes, very funny," she stated, glancing back up at the window.

The ermine dæmon crawled up his human's body, settling around her shoulders. His rough tongue met the back of her neck. It was comforting. The girl took in a breath from her nostrils. She would see him again, in the Underworld. She would see him again and their atoms would join the universe. Lyra looked out the window, watching the rain stop and the clouds fade away into the groggy sky above and light beamed down. It looked like it would be a good day.
