Would you look at thet, my first Princess Mononoke fic, um, more like one-shot.

Child

A human male hacked away at a beautiful, old and thick tree. The woman, who was holding a small child in her arms, watched as her husband chopped the trunk of the tree. He yanked the axe away from the splintered trunk. There was a deep cut that he made and with a few more hacks, the tree would tumble to the ground. He growled, whacking at tree once more. Unbeknownst to the two humans, a large white wolf watched them. Her eyes were hard on them. Those damn humans, they're defiling the forest, she thought. Moro hated man. Ever since Irontown began, the humans were running the beautiful forest. The female wolf crept slowly, careful not to make a single sound. She hovered behind the thick foliage of the bushes and high shrubs. The man chopped away, the trunk close to toppling over.

Whack!

The tree trembled and it fell, creating a large thump. The human male and his wife looked at the fallen oak. He held the axe to his shoulder and walked over to the fallen tree. "This tree will work," he stated to his wife.

"Yes, it will be good firewood," the woman said, rocking her baby.

Moro stepped lightly, keeping her growling low. She did not want to give herself away. The female white wolf suddenly pounced, landing nearly a few feet away from the human couple. The male human jumped, his axe fell to the ground. He scuttled away, never looking away from the wolf. Moro snarled, her eyes wild and hard. Her teeth were sharp and ready to rip out the human's throat. She stepped forward.

"Get out of the forest!" Moro cried madly.

The human jumped up and ran. The human female threw her child at the paws of the white wolf as sacrifice and she raced after her husband. Moro watched; a little stunned to think that the mother of this child threw her baby away. But this child was human and humans were mindless, heartless race that steal and were extremely selfish. Moro glanced at the child. She could eat it, just a quick meal that would satisfy her hunger for an hour or so. The human baby opened her eyes, and giggled, reaching out her little hands. The white wolf bent down, sniffing the human. The baby's hands lightly touched the wolf's white nose.

Moro could not eat this baby now, she was growing attached to it.

The wolf female opened her mouth, grabbing the cloth that covered the child, picking up the child. She strode away, going back to her cave. Her mate was dead. He was shot by a human in Irontown. What he left were two beautiful pups. One of pups glanced up, his tail wagging. "Mother!" he cried.

Moro glanced over, coming up next to her pups and laid the bundle down on the ground. "Hello, children," she greeted softly.

Her pups glanced down at the human child. One sniffed it and snorted. "Why do you have a human?" one of her children asked.

"You wouldn't believe," she groaned, laying down. "This child's parents were defiling the forest and they threw her at my paws."

The second pup glanced up. "Then why do you have it?" he asked.

"I want to keep it," Moro answered, crossing her paws.

She picked the child up, and rested it in her paws. Her pups watched their mother. "What are you going to do with it?" one pup asked.

"Teach it both the language of the animals and humans," Moro answered. "She will be both wolf and human."

"What will you call it?"

Moro thought for a moment. "San," she answered. "I'll name her San."
