The Other Side (Vash's alternative past)
Chapter 1
No Reason
Vash and Knives, age 1, (still with long hair) were lying stretched out in the branches of the tree, in the recreation room. They were thinking their own thoughts. Knives suddenly said, "What are we here for?!?! What are we??? We are not humans!! We are. PLANTS!!! There is no meaning for us!" "But there is! If Rem hadn't saved us when we were born, we wouldn't have a meaning. But she did, so we know we have our own part in the universe. Maybe even on Earth, if we ever get there," Vash replied, "Try to remember that Knives." Knives ran back into the rest of the ship, tears flowing through his eyes. Angry tears. I'll never understand Knives. Vash thought to himself. Unless. We aren't meant to be.NO! We are! There is no reason to believe that Rem didn't mean to save us, or that it was for nothing! Vash was thinking and thinking and in the middle of it he dozed off.

He woke up, and it surprised him that it was already the next day. "I had a good sleep! Let's see what time it is." Vash thought aloud. He yawned. Then he got up. "Hey, I'm in my bed!" he said. He looked at his radio- transmitter-clock. "WHAT?!?! 12:00 PM?!!?? IT'S ALREADY NOON!???" Vash knew he slept a little long, but he definitely wasn't expecting this! Then he realized that it was flashing. "Hey! Someone turned this off, turned it back on, and forgot to set it!" Vash thought aloud, "That's weird." "Let's see what time it really is." Vash said. He picked it up, pressed the button that read SET-TRNSMT/CLK (Set- Transmitter/Clock) and it found the time. It was really 7:12 AM. "Whew! That was close. Luckily I slept good!" Vash said.

Three days later Rem took the boys to a picnic in the recreation room, to enjoy what the Earth would be like if they got there. Vash and Rem were talking about nature, while Knives' mind was elsewhere. He was thinking about how much he hated being. a mere PLANT! He was so angry, he took his sandwich and ripped it apart, throwing the broken pieces onto Vash. "Hey, what was that for?" Vash called to Knives, as he stomped away into the rest of the ship. "I wonder what his problem is." Vash said. Rem sighed, and then she stared into the sky. "I'll never understand that boy," Rem said, "But I feel I did the right thing by saving him." "You think? I hope your right!" Vash said.
Chapter 2
Afraid
"Don't be afraid." Knives smirked an evil smirk. "W-w-what are you doing Knives?" Asked Mary. Knives stood in front of Mary, lying on the ground, Knives with a gun. "Shut up!" Knives shot Mary a few times. Mary screamed for about 10 seconds, and then she was silent. She was dead. Knives suddenly turned around and ran through the halls, running away from his fear of being caught. He stopped when he saw Vash and Rem running to investigate the scream. Knives immediately shot himself lightly in the arm, then dropped the gun. "There you are! Ow! Rowan actually SHOT me! That idiot!!" Knives screamed. "Oh my GOD," Rem screamed, "WHAT HAPPENED?!?!?!?" "I told you, Rowan shot me." replied Knives. "How could he?" Rem shouted, scared and angry. "I don't know." replied Knives.

A few minutes later, an alarm went off. "Now what?" asked Rem. "I don't know" replied Vash. They ran to the nearest escape pod. "Where's Knives?" asked Rem. Knives was suddenly running toward them. He stopped when he got to them.
