Three guesses who are the main players in this fic. You've only got three... use them wisely.
I write more Avatar than my own stuff, so technically I should own it. Too bad that things don't work like that in reality.

They both had daddy issues. She'd willingly dropped her father's hand to leave the nest once and for all. Knowing she could never return to that same spot by his side. Holding his hand... being his little girl.
She wanted to be his little girl. But she wanted more to live her own life and he left her no other way but to choose between the two.
He had a father, like hers that never understood him. Never understood his potential. Veiwed him as weak and helpless - having his Uncle to take care of him estranged from the Nation.
Tears ran down the girls face as she stood in front of her father, years later.
Standing by her side now, was an older boy who had taken the new role of holding her hand.
No longer could her father be given that privillage.
A boy who had to give the ok for his own father's decimation, who even helped it come to fruition.
A boy who had a hard jaw and no family left to fill his void.
A boy who had seen much horror in his day and still acted as strong as ever.
The father of the young girl stood in front of them both, as the girl's mouth opened and closed wanting to explain herself, but she couldn't.
The boy beside her cleared his throat. He didn't have any respect for the man in front of him, but respect was a loose word. He didn't have any respect for anyone but himself on most occassions.
"I'll leave you two alone" he said coldly, dropping the girl's hand as she rushed into her father's arms one last time. Mouthing "I'm sorry" and drying her tears on his expensive robe.
The father looked over her at the boy stalking off in the other direction and nodded his head in quiet approval before turning his attention back to his daughter. Still as fragile and beautiful as the twelve year old that left him. Still the one he wanted protected within an inch of his life. And still the one he didn't want to let go and hand over to anyone... no matter how much they understood his little girl.
"Don't ever leave again" he said as he touseled the girl's hair in his arms.
She burst out crying again for a father that she loved that would possibly never understand her and her need to be free.
