Chapter One: All Cats Look Black in the Dark

(^..^ = change point of view)

Bomba scrambled up the hood of the TSE-1 to sit next to me. This was my day-time spot. I had a special place that I went to at night.

"Hey Bomba, where were you?" Bombalurina, my sister, didn't say a thing. "Bomba?"

"………"

"Ugh, were you…?"

"Maybe,"

"I don't even want to know." That was a statement. She had been hanging out with Tugger again. Tugger didn't deserve someone like Bomba, he was a jerk to her but Bomba hadn't taken the hint.

I sighed. Bomba left, the sun was disappearing and the moon was beginning to peak from behind the clouds.

"Where are you…?" I didn't even finish my question, I just sighed…Tugger, of course.

Tugger was always the main cause of tears when it came to Bomba. I was always telling her, "Bomba, he's not worth your tears," but she never listened, not once. I'm not going to hold her against it because…I've got my eyes on a tom, just like she does; I just express it differently.

The moon was here. As I sat up, I caught the glint of fur out of the corner of my eye. I looked closer. I watch him move, dance and wade in the moonbeams beneath me. It was the certain silver tabby tom that she'd had her eye on. His silver fur caught the moonlight.

It was time to leave. I got up and slid down the hood of the TSE-1. I walked right under his nose and he didn't even notice. I often go to a lonesome tree that overlooks a small field of wildflowers. This is where I went tonight. I climbed the tree and I began t write. When I was alone, I enjoyed writing letters to my 'secret' love. This one went like this:

Dear ,

I realize a lot of things and I know a lot of things and I come here to admit my love for you. I do not believe that you love me; there are many better queens out there that you could be spending your time with. If you ever get a hold of these letters, I don't know what I will do. For now, I will not put a name to my letter, maybe if everything works out I will, but not now.

-Demeter

And that was the end of that…for now. I looked at the moon and I zoned out. I wasn't really thinking about anything in particular, just about Bomba being stupid and hanging out with Tugger. I hoped she was home by now and not still with that stupid hairball.

I sighed. Then he was next to me in the tree. I guess I must've dozed off…

But it was him…he was really here, why? Why was he here?

"Bomba was worried." He said.

Oh crud, the sun was up; I must've stayed here all night.

"Oh, sorry you had to come find me," I said.

"I volunteered," he replied.

Hmmm, that was interesting. I hadn't expected that. Maybe… No, it wasn't possible, never. He couldn't love me…could he?

"Donate you hands to Carl," whispered a voice from below us. I looked down…Coricopat and Tantomile, oh Heaviside, here we go again.

"Cori!" I yelled at him.

"Hey, look at the two love-birds in the tree!" they shouted in sync.

I shot a look at Munkustrap who made a cutting motion on his throat. I giggled.

"Hey, what did we miss?" they yelled at us.

^..^ (Munkustrap)

"Go away, guys; you don't want Jelly to get angry!" I yelled at him from in the tree. Last night Jelly had been looking for them with no success. Today, she would be really angry if they disappeared again. They had probably missed lessons.
