The Road Not Taken

Summery: And so she took the road less traveled...

Disclaimer: Only one person owns Inuyasha. One person only. I cannot follow her on her sacred path.

Miroku was a ladies man. He had been through countless woman and many had swooned at the sight of him. He was suave and good-looking. I got jealous all the time.

He was the type of guy that you can tell had experience by simply looking at him and hearing him talk. His incessant question: "Will you bare my child?" usually ended any progress he made, though. Notice I said usually. Going through village after village we ran into woman after woman who had said yes.

Many beautiful women have passed his way and I never did see him pass up an opportunity to flirt. He'd seen a lot of things in his lifetime and it was inevitable that he'd been through a lot of woman.

Hito was shy. He stumbled all over himself and blushed whenever I looked his way. He lived with his widowed mother and helped to support her. He wasn't terribly good-looking like Miroku but was still incredibly cute.

Hito got nervous a lot. He would wring his hands and stutter. He had probably never even had a girlfriend. He was so innocent looking that I wanted to just reach out and hug him. However, when the time called for it, he could be strong.

Like when we first met him. He was bravely facing off a demon to protect his mother. I was at awe at how even though he wouldn't stand a chance, he held his rake firmly and tried to lead the demon away from the village. After Inuyasha lopped the head off the monster Hito invited us to stay the night. I spoke to him of better ways to try to defeat a demon and the best way to protect his home. He was very teachable and after dinner asked me to take a walk with him.

On our walk he asked me about myself and I asked him about himself. He was surprisingly really nice company. He told me that he never had time for a lady friend and, blushing, told me that I was the prettiest one he'd ever seen anyway.

No, Hito was nothing like the experienced Miroku.

Yet in the end, after Naraku was defeated I made my decision.

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.
