There were still a few snowflakes falling, reminiscent of the recently destroyed snow monster. From the corner of her eye, Emma saw her parents get over the shock of Regina's sudden disappearance and run to Marian's side. But she needed to talk to someone else, before getting sucked back into Savior business. "Hey, you ok?"
Killian lifted one of his eyebrows. "Oh so now you decided to stop avoiding me?"
Emma wished the hotness in her face was a sudden warm breeze and not a blush. This man had reduced her to a blushing school girl. "I was…" he just quirked his eyebrows in that way only he could and she knew he could see right through her "It's not… it's not you. It's… I just…"
"I have to say, Swan, while the sight of you stuttering and at a loss for world is an endearing first, I think only fair to say I know you feel guilty about the whole Regina situation." She snorted, knowing she should've guessed. If there was ever anyone who could understand her, it was the pirate. "However, there is something else. I don't wish to pry, but… After last night…"
"How about we just go back and stuff ourselves with junk food while we watch something on Netflix to relax after chasing a snow monster?"
He let out a small laugh. "While I haven't the slightest clue as to what a net flick is, Swan, and I do think junk and food are not concepts that should go together, I dare say a meal and whatever sort of entertainment will be most pleasant by your side."
Emma laughed loudly. "I guarantee you will change your view about junk food very soon. And as for Netflix… it's just easier if I show you." He remained skeptical, but she smiled sweetly, the same sweet smile from the night before, and took a step forward "Last night was…" she blushed again and hated herself for feeling so out of character, but knowing she owed him the truth "It was perfect. And I don't regret it. But I don't… I don't know how to do this! I just…" she took a deep breath "You're right. There is something else. But I don't… I don't know how to be in a relationship. I… I trust you but there's a part of me that can't, still doesn't want to trust. Just… I just need you to be patient with me."
"Swan I believe I have given ample proof that patience is one of my many virtues."
She smiled again, going up on her toes and drawing him into a kiss that held more promises than she could possibly say out loud. When they broke apart, they noticed everyone had already left the clearing, so they made their way back into town in silence, but in complete companionship.
A while later, after they dealt with the next crisis – no rest for the weary in this blasted cursed town – they once again sat down to eat junk food and watch Netflix. Killian did enjoy it, not that he ever admitted to Emma that 'the yellow puddle of grease' was indeed pleasing. And it was only when one night Henry gave them a cable to hook the laptop to the TV that they realized that Netflix and junk food had become their little tradition.
