Give Me a Small Glance of Pity to Make Me Stop Running

People gave her odd looks and then ignored her. Some eyes travelled down from her tear-stained and dirt-splattered face and to her waist, to her bare thighs and the tiny bit of underwear hidden under her sweater and gave her a lecherous stare that made her flee.

Nobody noticed the Goosebumps. The way the fine hairs on her legs stood up in the bitter autumn cold. Nobody gave her a look of sympathy. They either found her disgusting or easy prey and she ran past all of them, searching for someone who would take pity on her.

She didn't think anyone would care. Not after her own mother didn't care. But if only someone would stop and give her a slightly concerned look and get her away from that nightmare…

But nobody did even that.
