"Race you to the car!"

Cameron giggled, her voice almost drowned out by the sound of monster trucks revving their engines. House rolled his eyes, amused by Cameron's girlish grin. The cotton candy must be making her hyper. He thought. Pushing through the exit gate, he called,

"Sure, why not. Challenge a cripple to a foot race. Hilarious." Cameron skipped ahead of him, calling in a sing-song voice.

"Oh, come on. The slow and steady win the race, right?" She pouted and turned away. House's gaze followed her as her hair bounced from side to side. The woman could be a looker in a paper bag, no doubt. Smirking, he picked up his pace.

"I warn you, I fight dirty!" At the right moment, he quickly drove the butt of his cane into the back of her knee. Yelping in surprise, Cameron was sent sprawling onto a patch of grass. Surprised and her fun side piqued, she whirled back around and grabbed his cane, pulling him to the ground.

"Sweet revenge, huh?" She said as he fell. With a resounding thud, he landed on the ground, a rather nervous distance between them. Facing each other, they got lost in each others' faces for a split second. She gazed into his iceberg blue eyes, as he stared blankly, openly, into her sea green ones. House snapped back to reality first.

"I understand I'm something to look at, but I'm getting uncomfortable here." He smiled, a hint of charm dancing on his face. Cameron blinked twice, coming back to herself. She resumed her playful grin.

"Play dirty, huh? Is that some kind of innuendo, or are you just messing with
me?" House wiggled and eyebrow.

"Who's to say I can't do both?"

"Mmm... the Ethics Code, mostly."

"Oh, please. The Hippocratic oath says 'Do no harm.' It doesn't say 'Have no fun.'" Cameron began to get anxious with the way they were facing. She could smell the musk of the cologne he had quickly sprayed on, and the breath coming from his rising and falling chest. She pushed herself off the ground, brushing the grass of her jeans. Her tight jeans. Don't think about that. This is just fun. That's all. His smirk grew ever wider.

"Nervous, are we?" Cameron shook her head, but she knew she was lying.

"It wouldn't be the best idea to be seen out here, lying inches apart, on the grass, now would it?" House knew she was hiding her anxiety. Interesting. She was nervous around him.

"You know any doctors who go to monster truck races on a daily basis?" Cameron knew she was caught.

"Need help up?" House sighed.

"No, I- Yes. I do." Begrudgingly, he held out his hand. Taking his with hers, she pulled hard and lifted him to his feet. He continued walking towards the car, speaking as he went. Cameron followed him.

"So, do you want me to drop you off at your place, or…" His voice trailed off, and Cameron was surprised by his kindness.

"You should probably drop me off… Unless you don't want to." House shrugged.

"Want to come by my place for sex and pizza?" Cameron giggled again.

"No, thank you." House gave her a questioning look.

"No? Don't like pizza?" She laughed again, and House couldn't help but laugh along. Holding the door open to his car, he let her in. She raised an eyebrow.

"Thank you." She flashed him her trademark dazzling, seductive smile.

"Chivalry isn't dead. 'Knights in shining armor' is over, though." He entered in his end. Sticking the key into the ignition, he turned the car on and pulled out of the parking space. Buzzing along on the freeway, there was an awkward silence between them. Pulling up to her apartment building, he turned the car off at the side of the road. They sat there for what seemed like ages.

"Well, thank you. It was very nice of you to bring me." Cameron spoke softly. House smiled genuinely, which shocked her.

"You're welcome." Turning over a new leaf? She thought.

"It was a good date. I'll see you later." House rolled his eyes.

"Again, except for the date part." Cameron took a deep breath. She couldn't believe the thoughts that were whirring around in her mind. She instinctively put an arm calmly on his leg, and they both looked each other in the eyes, House confused, Cameron curious.

"Who says it wasn't a date?" House pretended to think about it.

"The Ethics Code, mostly." Cameron smirked seductively.

"Ah, screw the Ethics Code." She leaned in closer to him, his and her pulse quickening, their breathing getting deeper. She was closer than she'd ever been to him. He could count her eyelashes. She could see the flecks of white in his eyes, even in the dark. It was silent all but for the distant sounds of sirens. Leaning her forehead against his, she felt goose bumps as their flesh contacted. She grazed his lips with hers, the smooth feeling igniting endorphins in her brain. They grew just so closer to fully connect. House couldn't believe that he was letting this happen. He… wanted this. The kiss grew more passionate; she placed her hands on his sides, reveling in the rush of feeling. The growing sound of sirens alerted her. Painfully breaking their embrace, she wondered where it was coming from. He question was answered as a car came screaming, wheels dragging, around the corner, quickly followed by cop cars. The car careened out of control. It hit them with so much force, Cameron blacked out immediately.
