" Why are you always looking out of the window…?"
" Ehh…?"
" I've been observing. You're always sitting in your room, looking out of the window. Why?"
" I… envy them…"
" Who?"
" Them."
" Those kids playing outside?"
" …Yeah…"
" Then why don't you join them?"
" I don't wanna…"
" Why are you always in here? Are you sick?"
" No…"
" Then… Why…?"
" Why are you asking…?"
" I'm curious."
" …I'm… scared."
" …Of the outside?"
" …Yeah."
" Why is it scary?"
" No…"
" 'No'?"
" It's… It's not the outside that's scary… It's more like… I'm scared to go out…"
" …I'm afraid you've lost me."
" It's just… The outside is like a dream world… Everyone I see is smiling so happily… Kids are playing with their parents… It's… too nice…"
" So then… what is the 'inside'?"
" …H-Huh…?"
" If you're scared to go outside, then does that mean that the inside is better…?"
" …No… Inside… is bad."
" I… really don't get you… You say that the inside is bad, yet you stay here, unwilling to go to the better outside."
" …Maybe… I-I think…"
" …You think…?"
" I just thought… that if I stayed inside long enough… I can convince myself that this is my reality…"
" You really are quite the interesting one, aren't you?"
" Eh…?"
" You're living in a dream, don't you think?"
" A… dream…?"
" Pardon me, I meant, 'nightmare'. You're envious of other children, so you don't go out. Yet you live in here, where you're constantly hurt."
" …I guess…"
" Why not take a step outside? This is your reality, but sometimes… living in a dream may not be so bad after all."
" But… if I live in a dream… then I'll forget reality."
" Not if you stay just long enough to rid yourself of the pain. Stay long enough to forget the pain, yet not long enough to forget reality altogether."
" …I'm… scared."
" I'll go with you."
" R-Really…?"
" If you trust me, take my hand. And we'll go together. But you must hurry; I can't stay for much longer now."
" Y-You're leaving…?"
" Yes."
" …Will you… Will I see you again…?"
" …Of course. One day. We'll meet again."
" Promise?"
" …Promise."
A/N: I wrote this because I felt down after going out today. Just a thought I had when I was thinking.
When I wrote this, I had in mind Tsuna and Mukuro/Giotto. After finishing, I think Chrome and Mukuro could work too. Anyways, this drabble is set before the canon. In Tsuna's case, we know that teenager!Tsuna was... not pleased with Iemitsu not being around most of the time. I thought the feeling would be there since he was a kid, with him being more sad than angry that his dad isn't around much. Chrome's case would be self-explanatory, since her background story was told in the canon anime.
The whole drabble is rather confusing, I realize. Feel free to flame, criticize or inquire, but either way, thank you for reading.
