Maybe it was her smile that had caught his attention all those years ago. But she used to cry so much back when Mochizou had first realized he liked her. And after that, when he started to tease (bully) her nearly every day, she would almost never let him see her smile.

So that certainly wasn't it. Then what was it that made him fall so hard for her? S-she used to be such a crybaby, really boring, and… and…

Mochizou leaned deeper into the crook of his elbow and stared longingly at Tamako's room across the street. She would probably go upstairs anytime now, after she finished helping with tomorrow's deliveries (100 mamedaifuku was what she had told him).

But she wasn't done yet, and the boy across the street just sat on his couch, patiently watching until the upstairs lights of Tama-ya would turn on. It was getting late, he thought, and he still hadn't started his homework, but Mochizou felt content just waiting there.

Maybe today'll be the day, he mused to himself, curling his knees up to his chest and then wrapping a pair of arms around them. He looked towards the drawer where he kept their oldest means of communication, a pair of paper cup connected only by a thin string. Yeah, right, Mochizou reminded himself after a (rather long) moment. Knowing her dense self, she'd just probably take it the wrong way. Yeah, that's what would happen.

whoo, that felt good to write... can't let this amazing show die, after all. (or maybe just to fill the hole in my heart from this dying fandom)

excuse any mistakes you might see, i've written original fiction before but never fanfiction!

chapter two will be updated within the week (or two)
