Small explosions explode on the young boy's hands as everyone around him stare at him in awe. To be bless with such a powerful quirk, surely, the boy will become someone powerful in the future. This young boy is Katsuki Bakugou, best friend of our protagonist, Ryude Kurosagi, as well as another boy named Izuku Midoriya.
"So cool! Katsuchi is surely the best!" Ryude exclaims as he stares at the tiny explosions with stars in his eyes and calling his childhood friend by the nickname. You see, Ryude has a habit of calling anyone with -chi attaches to the end of their name. "I can't wait for my quirk to awaken, and then we will become the strongest heroes together, right, Izuchi?" Ryude looks to the boy standing to his right with green hair and green eyes. Izuku nodded enthusiastically at this.
You see, these three young boys are childhood friends. They have been with each other since they were mere infants as their moms are best friends with each other. Growing up, they all admire All Might, ever since his debut, and sworn to become heroes and climb up the rank to become the strongest.
Things turn out for the worse soon after that. Ryude manage to awaken his quirk, which allows him to manifest chains from any part of his body. This is an amazing quirk when it comes to balancing between offense and defense. However, this is not the bad news. Izuku was revealed to be quirkless.
The rift between the friendship was unbearable. Katsuki acknowledged the versatile quirk of Ryude and wishes for him to abandon their friendship with Izuku and become the heroes with him. On the other hand, Izuku continues to follow Katsuki around, causing him to start bullying him and calling him by the name "Deku", meaning "the one who can't do anything", in order to make him let go of their friendship. It hurts Ryude to see their relationship deteriorates like this. He loves to friendship that they had with each other, yet, with just Izuku's quirkless status, their friendship is falling apart. He just hates to see his friend being bullied, but at the same time, he doesn't want to go against Katsuki to defend his friend.
Standing on the sideline as he watches another one of Katsuki's bullying session, tears began to swell up in his eyes. Where has things go wrong when they had been such good friends. The only thing that Ryude wishes for is for their friendship to go back to the way it was before. Just the three of them together aiming to become the strongest heroes. And yet, that dream is rapidly falling apart.
Wiping the tears lingering in his eyes, Ryude turns around and runs away from the scene, not wanting to see another moment of it. By the time he stops and looks around, he is another part of the neighborhood that he doesn't recognize.
Suddenly, black fog starts to appear surrounding him and choking him as it enters his lung, despite Ryude's attempt to not breathe in the fog. His vision starts to blur and the last thing he heard before falling unconscious is:
"Forget who you are. From now on, you will be Shackle."
