Never Got to Say Goodbye
You're heart can lead you to funny places, places you said you would never go again. For Ginny Weasly Goldric's Hollow was one of those places. The last time she was here it had been the funeral, she could remember little tidbits, Hermione weeping, Ron with his head in his hands and herself. She had seemed to be in denial; all she could really remember was ignoring the casket and staring at her feet and picking at a loose thread on her black skirt.
But now as she walked the streets of the once nice neighborhood of Goldric's Hollow she could see how it had changed. Some of the buildings where burnt and damaged and not a soul seemed to be here, it was a ghost town. She walked the streets the soft crunch of burnt wood and a soft calling of a bird in the distance was all she heard. Her hand was ready on her wand incase Death Eaters where still in here, but they had killed most of them along with their leader, Voldermort. She could hear some laughing and footsteps; she turned the corner to see some Muggle teenagers jumping around the houses. The area had been open to anyone since the Battle, no one lived there so there was no danger of muggles seeing a wizard, and they had just been told a huge fire had devastated the neighborhood.
She stopped by a tree; it was the same tree where she had been that night.
The air was alit with the sounds of screams and loud crashes. Every which way people where dieing and falling down and she sat amiss the mess with him by her side.
"Ginny, stay here I will be right back and everything will be fine." He said reassuringly.
Ginny opened her mouth to say goodbye but he quieted her.
"I'll be right back" he said wiping away some of the tears running down her face "Don't say Goodbye until I come back to you"
Ginny snapped back now realizing she had tears running down her face onto her blouse. She kept walking towards the graveyard to do what she had to do.
He ran though some people and she heard more fighting. Ginny picked up the invisibility cloak he had left her and threw it over herself and leaned against the tree wanting it all to be over, wanting him to come back and assure her it was alright, it was all he imagination.
She fell to the ground weeping trying to suppress the memories that caused her so much pain and suffering.
It had nearly been a day and she was still beneath the tree waiting for him. Bodies where everywhere and the battle had ended, over the horizon she could see someone coming she became alert and soon saw it was two people one supporting the other. As they came closer she saw it was Ron and Hermione. She lifted the cloak off her head.
"I knew I would find you here" Ron said Hermione seemed like she was in too much shock to do anything tears where running down her face mixing with the blood from the scrapes.
"C'mon we have to go" Ron said grabbing Ginny's arm. Ginny resisted fighting back.
"Ginny I'm not going to fight you" Ron said
"Where is he? I am not moving until I know where he is!" demanded Ginny the tears coming fast,
Ron knew whom she was talking about and slacked his grip his eyes getting watery.
"Ginny…He died in the battle"
Ginny was amazed that she had already come to the three tombstones. Two where more weathered then the third which was newer and cleaner with a fresh bunch of flowers by the base, the two older stones read 'LILY POTTER' and 'JAMES POTTER' in big engraved letters. But she had come to see the third which read 'HARRY POTTER' she kneeled by it and traced her fingers along the engraved letters "Hello Harry" she said her voice wobbly but strong "You never came back so I never got a chance to say Goodbye…and just as you told me until you come back for me I never will"
