Some days he thinks it will get better, seeing the world like this, maybe he'll wake up and it's all a dream. Everyone seems to have given up on Jaime but Bart never would. He loves him, more than anything, more than himself. Bart would give everything to just hang out with Jaime watching movies or something, it didn't even matter anymore. All he could think about was the phone call with the Nightwing.

"Did you watch the news tonight?" He had sounded pretty pissed, Bart should have known.

"No… should I have?" The news was so boring compared to everything else on TV. That's what Jaime loved about Bart; he was easily fascinated with everything. He found beauty in anything and everything. Sure he was still paranoid about the Reach apocalypse but he was getting better. Better and better with time. Time and comfort, Jaime's comfort.

"I think you should have a little chat with your friend Blue Beetle. Maybe you could knock some sense into him." Dick wasn't normally temperamental, just when he was pushed too far, like he has been.

"S- Sure. Anything, Nightwing." Bart wasn't sure why he was nervous, it was just Jaime after all. Just Jaime. No biggy. As soon as Dick hung up Bart searched up Blue Beetle on the internet (sweet!)

"Blue Beetle: Reach Hero"

"Reach Ambassador Introduces new Hero: Blue Beetle!"

Everything about Jaime… Jaime and the Reach. It could be. Jaime doesn't do this. He wouldn't. Not after everything they'd been through .Blue was gone. Bart called Jaime with tears stinging at his eyes.

"Bueno?" He sounded fine, maybe even better.

"Hey, Blue… wanna hang out?" His voice was shaking ever so slightly.

"Aye, hermano, sorry I can't today I'm going to hang with Green Beetle… unless you want to come to?!" Not Jaime.

"It's ok Blue… maybe some other time." NO, it couldn't be true.

"See you then, Bart!" It just couldn't.

So it was true…

Jaime was on mode.
