A/N: Well, people of fanfiction, I had a great day. And before you complain about the oddness of this piece (Actually, you weren't supposed to be expecting normal…) anyways, I blame my friend, Ly, completely for this piece. I got two red balloons today, and he wanted to lick one. I still have absolutely no idea why, but yeah. And then I asked him for two completely random HP characters, and he chose these two. My ramblings aside, blame it on Ly.
Red Balloons
There once was a time when Valentine's Day was truly celebrated at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. If you're on the verge of asking me why it isn't held anymore, just know that I blame Filch. You see, it started when the two of us were young. Or younger, not yet into our thirties – I was new blood at Hogwarts – as was he.
In strolled the first years – serving their detention on St. Valentine's. Why was Filch being so cruel? Well, every first year was holding a dazzling red balloon, the words 'I love you' imprinted on them.
In came he, smiling shyly – at that time he wasn't as… spotty as he is today. But I'm getting off the point. He asked me to be his Valentine. It sure was an odd thing, you know, asked by this incredibly odd man.
I shook my head once, feeling sorry for the poor bloke, and took the balloons.
Later that day I took them to my quarters. Or I was planning to when Albus stopped me, his eyes twinkling merrily. I quickly assured him that I had absolutely no feelings for Flich in that manner, I was merely pitying the man.
Albus grinned at me – never a good thing, even in those days. He snatched my balloons and ran with them. Down the hall, down the stairs, right to the lake, where he handed them out to the merfolk.
Filch saw this.
Let's just say Dumbledore's nose was not broken by his brother. And have you ever wondered why the old coot has a scar on his… what was it again? His knee? Well, wherever it was, it landed there with the strike of a mop.
. . .
A/N: As I said, random and weird. I realise McGonagall doesn't talk this, but blame it one Valentinesday.
