He's here.

Just as you suspected, the Seer led him right to you.

You can feel him drawing closer, crashing through the Veil, bursting through shared memories, double killing poor unfortunate ghosts.

He is almost here.

And then, in a blast of power you can't help fearing and envying, he already is.

Your first thought is that he has grown.

He towers over you, staring at you – are those pool balls in his eyes? – with an expression you can't read.

Despite his imposing figure, you can't help but think of him as your brother. You spent sixteen years in a room, with him as your only real company besides humans who were already long dead before you were even born. You talked to him daily, shared his mind, made deals, played games, all together.

You think if you want to die, this is how you want to go.

You watch as he takes a step closer, pushing his weight onto his cane as he lifts his good leg.

Through the hole he created, you see countless ghosts and dreamers, ready to fight a losing battle for your safety. You think that if they could at least do enough damage to kill him, he'd be corrupt enough to die justly.

But they wouldn't.

He takes another step closer, only a few feet away from you now.

And then there he is, your rival, your enemy, your nightmare.

Your brother.

It's as if all the years leave him, and he's only Caliborn, his robotic leg making a loud thump as he takes one last step, his red cape swirling slightly in the mental winds, his suspenders contrasting greatly against his clean red shirt.

He meets your eyes, red on white, and holds out his hand.

He smiles, a timid little thing as opposed the maniacal smirk you often pictured.

And then he speaks, barely above a whisper, a surprisingly gentle noise.

"Let's play a game."

So it's always been my head-canon that Lord English wants to find Calliope so that they can play their session the way it was intended. If you don't agree, that's fine. It's just my opinion.
