A/N: A very, very late Christmas giftfic for the wonderful hokamathexsil16 (from defiantArt). It's been ages since I wrote about OCs being the main character. Maaaan... I'm rusty. XD Still, I hope you guys enjoy this piece! :)
Disclaimer: Zanna and Liseth are not mine, but hokamathexsil16's. I only own this story idea.
Love was such a curious thing. Usually, it brought more questions than answers, but people seemed to be contented nonetheless (as long as they were happy that is).
For example, when did you know for sure that you couldn't live without a certain someone? That you wanted to grow old with that person because life didn't matter without them?
How did such a thing work? Was it a feeling you woke up with one day? Did it have to take a certain amount of time for one to get convinced that this was really it? Did age play a role or was it a universal thing? Some people were lucky enough to find The One when they were only teens, after all...
Liseth shook her head to get rid of these highly confusing thoughts. Seriously, now was not the time to ponder over that. It was the first day of spring, she should be enjoying the time she was spending with her sister and her friends.
Looking up, her dark blue eyes met Isa's lighter ones. The quiet teen shot her a questioning look, to which she replied with a faint smile and a shake of the head. She really liked Isa. He was like the big brother she'd never had. That didn't mean that she didn't like Zanna, her own sister, though. But Isa...he was different. They were so much alike. Just like him, Liseth prefered reading over going on wild adventures. Unfortunately, that didn't mean that the two of them would never be dragged into not so peaceful...stuff. Still, she was glad to have someone around who could understand her as well as he did.
Suddenly, she heard a loud splash and both Liseth and Isa turned their head to look for the source of the sound. Liseth's heart skipped a beat or two when she caught that euphoric grin on Lea's handsome face.
"Ugh, you little brat!" Zanna yelled furiously, as she tried to climb out of the fountain. "You'll have to sleep with one eye open tonight!"
Despite the situation, Liseth couldn't help but smile. She quickly bit her lip before her older sister would see it and get mad at her. May the gods show mercy to whoever dared to defy Zanna...
"Hah, we'll see about- Ow!"
If Liseth had blinked at that moment, she would have missed the tiny item that Isa threw at Lea's head, before heading over to the now wet through Zenna and helping her out.
"What was that for?" Lea exclaimed indignantly, rubbing the sore spot on the back of his head.
"For being an idiot," was the blunt reply.
"Liseth...aren't you saying anything?"
The violet-haired girl blinked. Almost at once, she felt how a blush made its way to her cheeks as soon as Lea turned his attention to her. "I wasn't aware I had to?"
"You're the only one Isa listens to," Lea said, giving her the best puppy dog-eyes he could muster.
Liseth shook her head. She might not know the answer to the questions that were bothering her earlier, but she was sure of one thing: life without Lea would have been dull as heck.
