Characters: Quinn-centric, Finn/Rachel, past Quinn/Finn
Please read and review.
You see Rachel's anxious expression transition into one of pure, unadulterated joy as she realizes the obvious, that yes, Finn really does love her, and in those moments, you so desperately want to hate Rachel Berry that it hurts. Somehow though, in those moments, you can't bring yourself to hate Rachel Berry which is a departure from the norm, because usually, your hatred for the show-tune belting diva rises straight to the surface.
For just a second, your eyes flick back to Finn as he grabs books from his locker, and you try to muster up the will to hate him too, but that proves even harder than hating Rachel, because Finn, with his impossibly soft brown eyes and adorably awkward stature, is far better than any girl, especially ones who lie about the paternity of their baby, deserves.
Finn told you that he'd probably always have feelings for you, and maybe he told the truth, but you've seen the way he looks and Rachel and you doubt he ever felt that way about you. Maybe, once upon a time, before your life went to hell, you believed he felt that way about you, because once, before everything was irreversibly changed because of your stupid mistakes, Finn told you that you were beautiful. You believed him, but now, even though you've returned to your formal glory, you feel far from beautiful.
You're head cheerleader, you rule the school, but you're missing that last piece of the picture. You're missing the arm candy, more specifically the varsity football team's quarter back, and you remember a time when you had all of it, and you feel more lost than ever so you turn and walk away, lost in the crowd, unsure of who you are.
