-Chapter one-
Prologue
Once upon a time in a far away kingdom lived a beautiful little girl and her widowed father. Actually it wasn't that long ago and it wasn't really a far away kingdom. It was New York City and it only seemed far away because of all the tall buildings and the smog. But to Alexis, growing up, it was her kingdom.
Alexis' mom died when she was only eight years old and while her dad took care of her very well he thought she needed more. That's when he met Lauren. Lauren was nothing like her mother and they didn't get along at all. She thought that her own children, Matt and Maggie, were more important and spent most of her time spoiling them. Lauren and Mark (her father) got married and they all moved in together when Alexis was ten. Her dad was away on business often, for long periods of time so he never saw how Lauren treated Alexis, and neither one would tell.
When her dad was away on trip Alexis spent her time doing school work and the many chores Lauren gave her. In her free time she would study for when she turned eleven and would go to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry, at least then she would be away from Lauren and hopefully in a different house from her step-siblings.
When the time came to got sorted at school Alexis was surprisingly sorted into Slytherin while Matt and Maggie were put into Hufflepuff. Everyone had always thought that Matt and Maggie would be in Slytherin, mostly because they always got what they wanted, and that Alexis would be a Hufflepuff because she blended so well that sometimes it seemed as if she weren't even there. Lauren had thrown a fit when she found out and tried to force Professor Dumbledore into changing their house but there was nothing he could do once the magical old hat decided. She finally gave up after sending 4 howlers and still not seeing a change.
Its been five years since the howlers days and not much has changed…
I know it was short and a little boring but they will get longer and more interesting, I just had to start from somewhere! R&R! J
