Okay I know that this song wasn't around when Boy Meet World was on the air, but just pretend, kay?

I do not own Avril Lavigne or Boy Meets World, if I did Shawn and Topanga would be together.

Shawn walked through the halls of John Adams High. This was kind of a routine for hm. He'd want nothing more than to get out during the day, yet he felt safer here than anywhere else. This place was his safe haven, weird as that was.

He was walking through the halls, about to pass the theatre when he heard singing.

Keep holding on

Cuz you know we'll make it through

We'll make it through

Just stay strong

Cuz you know I'm here for you

I'm here for you

He slipped into the theatre to hear better. This girl's voice just drew him in. As he got closer, he realized who it was.

Topanga

The one girl that he had known and loved all his life. The girl that he would kill for if it kept her from pain. The one girl that Shawn thought wasn't capable of feeling such intense pain, was pouring her heart out. Tears streaming down her face. All the emotion that no one had ever noticed were poured into one song about holding on, when her emotions were screaming at her to let go. Shawn sat down in the front row, and watched as his best friend, who was supposed to be tough as nails, let go of everything she felt, and finally, after years of holding it in, she broke down.

'How could I have been so stupid?' Topanga thought. 'I'm in way over my head. I'm supposed to be Topanga Lawrence, tough girl. I'm not supposed to break.' Tears fell faster as she finished her song. On the last note, she fell to the floor sobbing, still not realizing Shawn say her entire breakdown.

As Topanga fell to the floor, Shawn got up. He walked on stage, sat down next to the broken girl, picked her up, and put her in his lap, hugging her. In that moment he never wanted to let go. He wanted to protect this girl from the pain she was feeling. How could he not have noticed? This girl in his arms had been so broken for so long, her mask thinly veiled, yet he hadn't noticed. He never noticed that maybe she was feeling the same pain he was, just in a different way. He knew that it was hard to hide because he had to do it everyday.

'I have to save her' Shawn thought. 'I cant lose her. I wont.'

"Topanga, look at me", Shawn said to the crying girl. When she didn't budge, Shawn tilted her head up with his index finger. "Hey", he said. "I'm not going to let you fight this alone, not anymore. Let me in."

That's all he was able to say before she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him.

"I will save you"
