Max and 99 walked over to the CONTROL swimming pool. Dr. Steele was there. They exchanged hellos.
"We saw you in 42nd Street, recently," said Max.
"You were wonderful, honey!," said 99.
She smiled. "Thank you. OK, I'm perfecting a new formula, and I'd like you two to test it for me. This is a drug that allows people to walk on water."
"Walk on water?," 99 and Max said together.
"I'll show you."
On a table was a pill bottle, a pitcher of water, and glasses. She poured water into a glass, then took a pill out of the bottle. She put it in her mouth, then swallowed it with the water.
"It takes a few seconds to work. . . ah, I can feel it now."
She slipped her shoes off and walked to the side of the pool. Then she walked in.
She stood on the surface of the water, as if there was a plastic sheet covering it!
"That's amazing!," said Max.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing!," said 99.
"Now, you two try it," said Steele.
They went to the table, took a pill each, and swallowed it with the water.
"Feel anything, yet?"
"I'm feeling a tingling sensation," said Max.
"Me, too," said 99.
"Good, it's working," said Steele. "OK, get in the pool."
They quickly took their shoes and socks off and went to the side of the pool. Then they stepped into the water. 99 stood, but clumsy Max fell and had to be picked up by the girls!
"Sorry about that!"
"This really is incredible!," said 99.
"So with this drug, an agent can escape by running on top of water, rather than swimming in it."
"That's right, Max," said Steele.
"Does KAOS have anything like this?," asked 99.
"Not as far as I know."
"Amazing!"
"There's just one flaw with it."
"What's that?"
At that moment, Dr. Steele fell into the water!
"It doesn't last very long!"
"What a shame!," said 99.
"Don't tell me that any moment, it will wear out on us," said Max.
And then, he and 99 fell in!
"I asked you not to tell me!"
"This batch lasts longer than the first batch I made. That one lasted less than a minute."
"Well, back to the drawing board!," said 99.
They swam to the side and got out of the pool. Dr. Steele gave them towels, and one for herself. They dried themselves off.
"I'd like you two to test out the pills again, when I perfect the formula," said Steele.
"We'll be here," said 99.
"Only next time, let's wear bathing suits!," said Max.
