A very tragic story if you ask me. A very, very tragic story. About a boy and girl who had all the chance in the world to become one. Everyone knew that…everyone knew they had a chance. And we all knew that the only thing in their way was their own selflessness. Other than that, they had a chance, they had the opportunity to lead a life full of happiness. For the boy stopped at nothing to gain the girl's trust, her happiness, her smile, her love…

And the girl slowly began to understand his feelings, his will of fire, his compassion, his spirit, and his love for her. For they laughed together, walked together, smiled together, cried together, fought together…

What could possibly go wrong? They were happy. Happy as can be. Nothing in the world could stop them…except themselves. Their own selflessness.

"She will be happier with him." The boy thought to himself.

"He will find true love with her." The girl thought to herself.

"I don't deserve her." The boy said to himself.

"I don't deserve him." The girl said to herself.

The red string of fate that bound them so tightly together was ripped away by their own two hands…

All because they could not see the opportunity they had to lead a perfect life. All because their selflessness held them back. They sacrificed their own feelings so the other could be happy. And it was all in vain. For I know that they will never be fully happy.

"Sai."

"Hm…?"

"What are you daydreaming about? The wedding is about to start!" the pink haired girl frowns.

"Ah…it is."

"Well come on! Snap out of it! Your best friend is getting married! Try to look happy, okay?!" Sakura snaps.

"I will…"

"Wow, Naruto is getting married…" she smiles at me. "Isn't that wonderful?"

"It is…"

"Stop sounding so dull! Smile, Sai! He's your best friend!" she laughs.

But how can I? How can I pull off a realistic looking smile if a broken hearted girl in front of me is smiling a fake one.

"Sakura…"

"Yeah?" that false smile was looking ever so painful by the minute.

"I know that your smile is fake." I said.

Her smile fell just a bit, but I could hear her heart chip away with every second that passed.

"What are you talking about, Sai?" she laughs. "Come on, let's go! I want to see Hinata in that dress that she picked out!"

The girl with that fake smile walked away to watch the man she loved live a life with another woman…

And all I could do was watch her cheer out words that were nothing but lies, smile a smile that was filled with pain, and laugh a laugh that took everything she had to create. This hurt her. This was killing her. And if you took a look at the man who was supposed to be kissing his bride with the most joyful expression across his face, you could tell that his own happiness was nowhere to be found. His smile was not the smile I once knew. His eyes never sparkled the way they once did. His laughs were not the ones that once brightened the earth…

He was a changed man…and he changed for the worse. All because of a silly thing called love. All because he thought nothing of his own happiness. All because his own selflessness got the better of him.

A tragic tale. A very tragic tale if you ask me. For a true, real smile will never be on their faces…ever again.
