The never-ending heavy rain pours down over New York. You can hear the roar of the thunder so loud that most people would be scared. And this is exactly what can describe Neal's mood now. How comical it is that the weather is expressing just what you feel in just this moment, Neal said thinking to himself. He has always loved to hear the rain and the thunder. He remembers that while most kids hide under the bed when they hear a clap of thunder, Neal never did that. He went out to feel the rain so he could become one with it. He's sure that is what the meaning with Disney's Pocahontas movie was. To become one with the nature and appreciate what you got. Ellen used to come out and stand beside Neal with her arms wrapped around him and talking about how the rain felt like a symbol to her. A cleaning effect of all bad things. Sometimes did he miss all these simple things. Like when he used to be under a blanket with a cup of hot chocolate in his hands that Ellen had made him after coming in from the rain. Two marshmallows and a bit of cream. Just the way he liked it. No-one could beat Ellen on making those delicious steamy cups of goodness. God, he missed her. Ellen. His safe haven. His anchor in the dark and howling ocean. It used to be Neal and Ellen against the world. When his own mother ignored him was this incredible woman there to guide him and love him with all her heart. And now was she gone. Never to be beside him again. Never to talk to him again. Lost in the afterlife. Shining bright up in the sky. At least that was what he had been told when he was a little boy and had asked Ellen what happened when someone died. And he had to believe her that she had been right all those years ago and that she looked over him, leading him like she did when he was a little boy. Neal turns away from the city light and walks back inside of his apartment and makes himself a cup of hot chocolate.
