Professor Trevor Bruttenholm: Hellboy's Father and former director of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. Deceased.
Hellboy: Works at the BPRD as a international non-governmental agency paranormal investigator. Originally is demon brought from hell in the 1940's by the Nazi's and raised by the Professor.
Elizabeth 'Liz' Sherman: Has pyrokinetic powers, works for the BPRD on and off and is in a relationship with Hellboy.
Tom Manning: Director of the BPRD and complete ass.
Abraham "Abe" Sapien: A Icthyo sapiens or a type of land walking merman. Can survive underwater, an excellent marksman, and a formidable hand-to-hand combatant. He has extremely high intelligence and is adept at telepathy and Psychometry, through one of his webbed hands and doesn't age. Also an agent at the BPRD.
Cylika: Daughter of Hellboy and Liz. Is a Nephilim, half demon and half human. She has variations of her father's powers and abilities such as, extreme heal and pain threshold, ages like a normal human, but as stopped seeming to look like she's aged farther than 20. She's also inherited his markings of wrapping lines and swirls on her skin like shallow, but clearly see-able, dents all the right side of her body from the shoulder, back, side, arm, hip, leg and foot. From her mother she inherited her pyrokinetic abilities, but unlike her mother can control them at will. Can also read minds people and has an ability like Sapien's psychometry.
Alexander Skarsgård: New agent in the BPRD, has worked in the FBI for 6 years after serving in the Swedish Marines. Is from Sweden and as far as known is utterly human.
