Windows To The Soul

In which Ruby isn't the only one who witnessed Pyrrha's tragic end atop Beacon's tallest spire.

A river, dark as blackest night, and comprised of flesh, bone, and smoke. A hellscape of crumbling stone, shattered pillars of hope, broken mirrors, fire, and pain. That is how most survivors of the fall remember Beacon's final day.

A day of sorrow, of mourning, of terror and loss. The tragic final act to the fallacy that was Remnant's extended period of peace. That is how the people of Remnant at large view Beacon's fall.

For a chosen few, however, Beacon's fall was not an end, but a beginning.

For Blake, it was too much to bear, for Yang, a new trauma to haunt her dreams and a new betrayal by one she was meant to trust.

For Weiss, it was the loss of her freedom so desperately sought, and for Nora and Ren, it was the loss of a beloved friend and true family.

For Pyrrha, it was one last act of defiance, and an achievement worth being remembered for. I suppose, in the end, fame was truly her destiny after all. Her burden to bear.

For Ruby, it marked the beginning of a new and much more dire adventure, alongside the shattered remnants of team JNPR. It was her greatest motivation, to never allow what happened that day to befall another within her reach. For her, it was the most terrible of fated beginnings. Her call to greatness.

For Jaune, it was the day destiny was set in motion. The day the nightmares commenced. The day a fate greater than he, nay, greater even than any before him nor any long to come upon his end, came to rest on his shoulders. The day his curse began, and the day that the ancients had been waiting for. The day they had been waiting for, for so very, very, long.

Hello all! I'm back, and this time with an actual planned out story, and the will to follow it through no matter how bad it gets or how much I feel like just giving up.
I've also decided to fix the main things I saw wrong with my previous 2 fics, especially my flagship, This Isn't A Dream. I was dissatisfied with the actual quality of my writing and the length of the chapters and feel I am a better writer now than I was then.

This is just a teaser for the actual story, which I need to actually flesh out in text. The update schedule will be sporadic at worst, but my intent is to release approximately 6-7.5 thousand word chapters on a bi-weekly basis.
