Boilerplate Disclaimer: ZUN owns Touhou. He is the greatest for doing so.
Notes: Written so I can get my mind off writer's block. It... it didn't really work. But one must always persevere.

In the dark of the forest, there was a slight noise, a small brushing of leaves and branches as a youkai fell. A little one, a lesser in the grand scheme of things; but tonight was the usual, the time for housekeeping, a fortunate moment where the mighty slumbered in common civility. The priestess descended from the air above, coming to rest by the shattered body, feeling the calor of one clinging to life. It was not over yet... but it would be soon, as always.
She lit a flame to see, and the maiden wondered if she should thank Yukari for this world, if she should curse her. Perhaps, it was both; after all, at least the humans were on top in this world. They were the ones that ran things now, with the good consent of a living god...
The girl spat on the ground of Fantasia, the gilded cage. With the last ounces of its strength, the bug youkai lifted its hand to her - she had forgotten the task at hand, the maiden realized - choking on the last of its breaths, pitiful cries that could hardly be heard, begging for something. Was it mercy, the maiden wondered, and she lowered herself to hear the demon's words. And indeed, it was. "Please". "I'm sorry".
Focusing a little bit of power into her foot, the girl stamped the youkai's face into the dirt, once, twice, again. Until the thing's pathetic breath-screams could not be heard. There was no point counting. Eventually, the youkai's tiny thrashings stopped; and knowing the time was right, the maiden ended the catharisis, placing her hand on the now unidentifiable face of the insect. She only wished for its deserved destruction, asking of the gods to do as should be; hearing her prayer, the Gods imbued her, the righteous flame erupting from her fingers, until it consumed the head, then the neck, then the body, igniting the monster like a candle. It writhed in the inferno, for a few seconds - then, was still. It was not enough, but it was better than nothing, especially knowing that the thing could die again. And again. And again.
The light illuminated the forest clearing, the hundreds of minor youkai the demon called for - more blood. Plenty of infuriated, vengeful countenances to reduce to nothing. The fire began to die, the imp-bugs approaching, and smiling, Reimu Hakurei readied her spell, letting the light of Heaven flow through her. She released the power, the rightful punishment, and from the tip of her finger, the One Hundred and Eight Million screamed in unison.
There was much purity that night.
