This is my first Transformers Animated fanfic. I've just finish watching the whole series so if Jetfire, Jetstorm, or anyone else is out of character, please let me know. Also, I haven't read the comics detailing Safeguard's origin. I'm using a Transformers wiki to help me write references to Safeguard's origin so if anything is wrong, please let me know for future Animated fanfics. I'm used to writing Movie-verse and Prime fanfics so constructive criticizm for writing Animated fanfics is greatly appreciated. Disclaimer: I don't own Transformers
They were one spark, split in half and settled in two separate protoform bodies. They could feel each others' emotions, hear each others' thoughts as if they were their own. They were twins – the Jettwins, fire and wind made one. If one died, the other would soon follow.
"Hey, Brother, look," Jetstorm said as he unleashed a gust of wind onto Jetfire's flame balls, making the fireballs grow bigger and move faster. "Wind makes fire grow stronger and faster."
"That is true, but fire can help wind, too," Jetfire said, impressed with his brother's help. Jetfire used his flamethrowers to create a mini wildfire on the ground. "Make a tornado near the flames, and you will see, Brother."
"Okay." Jetstorm turned into a Cybertronian jet, and using his wind powers, circled around the base of the flames, creating a fire tornado that Jetstorm can control. "I see," Jetstorm said, impressed, after he finished circling the flames. "Fire can make wind stronger like wind can make fire stronger."
It was simple science. Wind spreads the flames from its birthplace (sometimes it causes fire to move fast), and the flames will have more food available, eating them up and growing stronger. And while Jetfire and Jetstorm did it differently, fire tornadoes do occur but their conception is different in nature. A wildfire will be unleashed, and if the conditions are right, a warm updraft converges with the wildfire, and a fire tornado is born. But for Jetfire and Jetstorm, it was more than simple science, it was life. They made each other stronger, working together in a beautiful balance that not even other twins could achieve. But they were more than just twins with one spark, they were one body.
So when the alarms from their ship, stationed on Earth, sounded, and Sentinel Prime barked the orders, Jetfire and Jetstorm put out the fire tornado and transformed and rose up only to meet Lugnut five miles away from their ship. The Jettwins tried their new combo of fire and wind to defeat the pompous Decepticon loyalist, but when fire tornadoes, enhanced fireballs, and teasing were no match for Lugnut's sheer strength and Punch Of Kill Everything, Jetfire and Jetstorm combined into Safeguard, allowing their split sparks to become one. And life fire and wind, they empowered one another, giving Safeguard more strength and power. They were more than just a single spark but a split body, and although neither was by choice, the Jettwins wouldn't have it either way. They loved each other very much. They were the only ones they had in the world. The Decepticons had orphaned them at a young age, and the Elite Guard gave them no thought. It was only when Project: Safeguard was initiated that the Elite Guard cared to get involved with the twins' lives. Still, the Elite Guard could care less about their wellbeing, and it was luck, teamwork, and brotherly love that gave them purpose.
But through Safeguard, Jetfire and Jetstorm were closer than ever, literally and physically, not when they could be one being. If the Allspark ever sought to reclaim one of the Jettwin's spark, the Allspark would have to take both of them. Safeguard is more than just a weapon conceived by Perceptor but a tool to keep Jetstorm and Jetfire together forever.
