"But Sirius, I can't just ask Lily to the yule ball. She's so smart and pretty and I'm just well, me." Said James. I just stared right at him. The truth is, I have the biggest crush on James and have had one for the longest time. I love him, but I love him so much that I'm willing to help him get Lily so he'll be happy.

" Just ask her. There's no way she would say no to you, don't kid yourself." I said.

"Then I guess I'll ask her tonight." Declared James. Every single word broke my heart.

~Later that night~

"Lily there's something I've been meaning to ask you." James said, pulling Lily aside. We were walking to the great hall for the evening feast, and there was absolutely no possibility of Lily saying no.

Lily looked nervous and kind of freaked out. She looked like she might run or faint. She must be so excited that she's having trouble hiding her emotions. Her and James have been flirting for a few years now.

" Will you, Lily Evans, be my date to the Yule ball?" James asked. The look on Lilys face shifted to pure horror.

" I have to go!" Lily called over her shoulder while running from the room.
By this time corridors were emptied aside from James and I.

The look on James's face said it all. He was sad, shocked, mad and hurt all at once and it infuriated me. Nobody could hurt my James and this was supposed to be a good time, to be happy.

" Forget about her James, she's a fool. She doesn't deserve you, she never has and she doesn't matter." I said.

"She just mes"-I had heard enough. I pressed my lips to his and I had never felt so certain of this in my life. Kissing James felt so right, and a fire ignited inside of me. He kissed me back, and the feeling was blissful. I had never told anyone about my feelings for James as he was my closest friend and now I know I should have told him sooner. My hands gathered into his hair, pulling him closer than ever before. It was too soon when he pulled away with a wink.

With that he marched into the dining hall.
