Hi everyone!

So, you know how there's tons of stories out there that are "Lucy sees Natsu kiss Lisanna, then cries and leaves the guild"? Those cliches bother me a bit...(I mean no offense to anyone who has written or read one). This is my take. It's supposed to be a bit humorous.

This is rated T for swearing. Just a warning :)

Don't Believe the Rumors

It is a beautiful spring day in Magnolia. Flowers are blooming, birds were singing, the the sun was shining golden light down onto the streets. A light, cool breeze floats through the air, keeping the air from getting too hot and sticky. It is a perfect day for a walk in the park, or a picnic under the cherry tree.

Lucy Heartfilia is in a great mood. She walks through the streets with a wide smile on her face. For some reason, she woke up feeling like something wonderful was going to happen today. Of course, good things happened to her all the time, considering what guild she was in, but this feeling was special. Even though she walks alone, she feels no loneliness. She stopped by the guild earlier that day for a few hours and talked with Levy about a new book, which was enough to keep her satisfied in the friend department right now.

Quite a few people say hello to her as she makes her way through the winding cobblestone streets. Fairy Tail is very well-known, and even more so in Magnolia, since the guild was located there. The townspeople had grown very fond of Lucy, and often gave her little things to brighten up her day. Today she gets free rolls from the bakery, a daisy from the flower shop, and a cup of orange juice from the smoothie place. Everyone is all smiles: the good mood must be contagious.

Because Fairy Tail was so well-known, they were also frequently the talk of the town. Lucy hears many things as she walks: from Erza's latest exploits to rumors about Evergreen and Elfman. Both things were very common discussions among the townsfolk. But one conversation stands out to Lucy above the rest, most likely because she hears her own name. And boy, she did not like what she heard.

"Did you hear the news?" a young woman says with an eager smile.

"What?" another woman asks, looking anxious.

"A few minutes ago, I saw that spiky-haired guy that's always with Lucy Heartfilia kissing Mirajane's little sister!" Lucy's head spins. What did she say?

"Really?" gasps the other woman. "That's crazy! I never thought...!"

"I know, right?!"

Unable to bear hearing this anymore, Lucy takes off. Lisanna and...Natsu? It made so much sense, in a sick sort of way. They were indeed childhood friends, and Gildarts claimed loudly many times that they should date. Lucy swallows, holding back tears. She had sworn that she had told Lisanna about her feelings for Natsu... Was she that much of a bitch? Lucy clenches her hand into a fist. She had thought Lisanna was nice...

What about Natsu? She couldn't really be angry at him, but still... He was pretty damn dense, so how would he even understand kissing? What had gotten into his head? She was so going to slap him next time she saw him.

She blinks, suddenly realizing that somehow, she ended up at her own front door. She'd walked all the way across town in what seemed like a few minutes. She must have been really lost in her thoughts. With a dejected sigh, she shoves open the door.

Before she can stop herself, she's slammed it shut and crumpled to the floor in a sobbing mess. It was stupid of her to act like this over a boy, and she knew it, but still... She should be happy for them, but of course she wasn't. It was an impossibility for her. And of course this whole mess had to happen right after she had decided that maybe she had a chance with the Fire Dragon Slayer.

This situation made her furious. After all of the hugs they'd shared, the fun times they'd had, and the moments of silence when they walked hand-in-hand, he went and kissed another girl? A girl who Lucy had thought was her friend? It was all so heartbreaking.

A crashing sound from upstairs jolts Lucy out of her despairing thoughts. She sits bolt upright at the shout of "SHIT! HAPPY, HIDE THE EVIDENCE!" followed by a scream of "AYE SIR!". Furious, heartbroken, and covered with her tears, Lucy storms upstairs.

Without even bothering to look at her fellow guildmates she points at the window and screams, "GET OUT! NOW!"

Natsu cowers back, seeing her expression. Trembling, Happy hides behind him. "I didn't mean to!" the Exceed wails.

"IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU!" Lucy screeches. "HELL, YOU CAN STAY FOR ALL I CARE! BUT YOU!" She whirls on Natsu. "GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE, AND DON'T EVER COME BACK!"

Natsu shakes his head. "Lucy...why are you crying?"

"LIKE YOU DON'T KNOW!" Lucy roars. "YOU SHITTY DRAGON SLAYER!" Suddenly unable to take it anymore, she collapses to the floor in tears. Her friends are silent for a moment, thoroughly confused. Finally, Natsu kneels down next to Lucy and places a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"What happened, Luce?" he asks softly. "Did I do something?"

"Why didn't you tell me?" Lucy spits bitterly. "Why, Natsu?"

"Tell you what?" Natsu frowns, confused out of his mind.

"About you and Lisanna!" Lucy sobs. "I didn't know you liked her that way!"

"That way?" Natsu echoes. "You mean like a crush?"

"Yes..." Lucy whispers sadly, her fears confirmed. "Congrats, I guess..."

"Hear me out," Natsu replies.

At that, Lucy explodes. "Hear you out?! HEAR YOU OUT?! I DON'T NEED TO HEAR YOU OUT! THERE'S NOTHING FOR YOU TO SAY!"

"Lucy!" Natsu cries. She ignores him, still screaming at him to get out. "I DON'T HAVE A CRUSH ON LISANNA!" he shouts, his face bright red.

"WHY DID YOU KISS HER THEN?!"

"WHAT?!" Natsu shouts.

"WHAT?!" Happy screams, just as shocked as Natsu. "YOU DID WHAT?!"

"I NEVER KISSED ANYONE!" Natsu cries.

"Ahem," someone clears their throat from behind them. "Lucy, Natsu?" Very slowly the arguing pair turns around to face the speaker. Loke stands behind them, his left pointer finger pushing up his glasses on his nose.

Natsu scowls. "What do you want?"

"Lucy, what exactly gave you the idea that Natsu kissed Lisanna?" Loke asks smoothly.

"W-Well," Lucy stammers, "I overheard s-someone say something about a spiky haired guy that always is with me and I-"

"Assumed it was Natsu?" Loke finishes for her. He laughs slightly. "Well, it wasn't."

Lucy's eyes widen. "Are you saying that you-?!" Loke winks, and says nothing.

"I swear," Natsu growls. "If you break my friend's heart I'll break your neck."

"Understood," Loke replies. He then looks at Lucy. "However, Princess, why is it such a big deal that Natsu was-"

"GO BACK!" Lucy shouts at him, her face bright red. Loke sighs, then disappears back into the spirit world. Lucy breathes a sigh of relief. Thank Mavis... No more trouble now...

"Lushi?" Happy says suddenly, causing Lucy to jolt. "Why would you care anyway?" Lucy's face turned even redder. Great. First Loke, and now Happy was asking her the same question? "You liiiiike him~!" Happy squeals.

"I do not!" Lucy protests, her heart pounding.

Natsu smiles deviously, stepping close to her. "You do too."

"Not you too!" Lucy screams. "Get out, both of you!"

"Lucy loves Natsu!" Happy screams. "Lucy wants to kiss Natsu!"

"YOU SHITTY CAT!" Lucy screams, and promptly kicks him out the window. Natsu opens his mouth to say something, when Lucy kicks him out too. Breathing heavily, she collapses to the floor. What a day it had been...

Still though, Lisanna and Loke? Huh. Mirajane was going to flip when she finds out about that one.
