She'd never noticed how grey his eyes were before. Not until it was too late. Even while widened in fear the grey seemed to penetrate her mind. Her soul. Her very essence. It was the sort of colour one saw at dawn on a rainy day. With the white light of the sun shining through foggy layers of clouds, it was clear and bright. But right now coloured with horror. He opened his mouth to speak, pink lips forming shapes, but only choked gasps were heard. Pale blonde eyebrows knit together in grief. There was a streak of red on his face. Her blood. She reached out a hand to touch it and he shivered.
"Not quite the colour you expected, is it?"
His response was only to blink back sudden tears. "Forgive me. Forgive me, forgive me, please!"
She stared at his heaving chest, then upwards to the worried pink lips, and then finally the grey eyes. That startling grey that jolted her straight to the core. All while watching her get hit with curse after curse. That shut tightly when Bellatrix threw a cruciatus. And now were filled with tears. They were so pure...maybe even, dare she say, innocent? A lone tear rolled down his cheek and with a shaking hand, she caught it on her fingertip. She was confused, no doubt. Who knew he was capable of sympathy? A hacking cough drew widened eyes as he saw blood dribble from the corner of her mouth. She only smiled, decision already made.
"There's nothing to forgive Malfoy. I saw your eyes. You are clean..."
The pale blonde brows knit back together in confusion over her statement, and amused but broken, she breathed her last.
They are as pure as the light during a rainy dawn, a clear and impossible grey.
So. Yeah. How was it? Please review!
